Amazing experience

We stayed at Excellence Punta Cana for our honeymoon and everyone was so accommodating, so friendly, and so helpful with everything we needed. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect choice for anyone who is traveling to the Dominican for the first time!! We had the time of our lives and can't wait to come back here!

Disappointed-Needs upcoming renovations

Pros: Pool areas seemed to be a better layout than El Carmen, but didn't get to experience it first hand.
Cons: Rooms are musty, moldy and in definite need of a complete overhaul.
We arrived & went through the whole check-in process before they told us the room we reserved (beachfront rooftop terrace) wasn't available due to flooding repairs from a storm a few weeks ago. The only room they had available was a swim-up poolside room that was tiny and smelled moldy. The patio had no privacy and the "swim-up" was actually just steps down to the main pool. They only offered us a "resort credit" for the difference in price. We told them we were not happy with that after travelling 12 hours to get there. They said our only other option was a Beachfront Rooftop Honeymoon Suite at the Excellence El Carmen just down the road, which was a much bigger room than we originally reserved, with no charge to us for the upgrade & got us a taxi to bring us there. So we were disappointed that we didn't get to experience this resort & that they didn't make this arrangement ahead of time so we could have at least been prepared and not waste well over an hour of our time. El Carmen turned out to be amazing and we had a wonderful experience there, so we were very grateful our 20th anniversary trip that we had planned over a year in advance wasn't ruined.

Excellence Club - Not Worth It

Pros: Architecture and grounds were beautiful and well kept. Restuarant availability was great. Food was very good at most places. Spa was great.
Cons: There can be more consistency with bar drinks. Some staff was great, and some staff acted as if they were being bothered.
Location: Limited things to do nearby.
Walking into the hotel was amazing. We felt like VIPs then we went to the Excellence club to check in. From start to finish it took over an hour - not so excellent. While we understand that people can be new, at our expense is unacceptable. I wanted to confirm that the room had an ocean view, we were told no - this should have been cleared up within a few minutes. It turned out that the room was an ocean view but the staff member was unsure and failed to understand our reservation and the location of our room. From there we went to our room to find out that the elevator was broke. This was unfortunate as my husband just had hip surgery and the stairs were a challenge. The staff made up for the error(s) by comping a 25 minute massage. The pool was fabulous but when my floaty was hijacked by staff for another pool I was truly upset - ( Get more floats !

It's all in the name

The resort, staff, activities and amenities are all top notch. They are getting ready to renovate so there were a few things that could use updating, but they recognize that and are implementing remedies. Free booze 24/7 with beautiful scenery and people everywhere you look!

Pros: The beach was so pretty and well kept, the pool way really cool, tons of restaurants to choose from, the drink were strong and delicious.,
We stayed at Excellance Punta Cana for our Honeymoon and it was amazing! The resort is so nice and the staff are the best by being so helpful and happy! We loved our room and the special treatment we got at arrival and the whole stay. We loved this resort and will for sure be back!

Absotely wonderful

I just returned from Excellence Punta Cana with my boyfriend. This was our first all inclusive vacation together, and this set the bar EXTREMELY high. David at the front desk was absolutely great. We had issues with excursions that we had booked with an outside company, and he went above and beyond the next day to make sure we were able to get them through the resort. The food was amazing, the room was great, the pills were so relaxing. We would return in a heartbeat.

Fantastic hotel with so much variety. Room for improvement with quality of food at number of the restaurants but on the whole it was good considering it's all inclusive and so many different cuisines

Friendly staff on a beautiful resort

This was a beautiful and quiet resort. Our honeymoon suite was large and very nice, except it had an uncomfortable humidity odor to it. The staff tried to accommodate us but there was nothing they can really do about the smell. The excellence lounge manager Vanessa took an extra step every day in making sure we were happy. She really tried to make this an excellent stay for us, and it was. However, although there are various food options, the food is mediocre and barely edible. If you don't expect too much from food quality, you will have a excellent time. The resort is very large and tropical and the beach was just beautiful. Vanessa and Antonio were very helpful. The entire staff are very friendly people and make you feel welcome.

Very nice resort. Wide variety of restaurants and bars. So many things to do. Shows are every night. No reservations needed for dinner. Beach is beautiful. Staff is very friendly. Very relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Perfect for honey mooners. Will be coming back!

Very clean with a beautiful pool.

Pros: Food & restaurant choices were plentiful. Loved that we didn't need reservations for dinner anywhere. Very large pool -- one end noisy & one quiet.
Cons: Get rid of the bathroom windows! Provide some shade at the cascade pool. More online info on the differences between rooms (ie: some had hammocks).
My daughter and I spent 6 nights in May 2017 for a vacation. The resort was filled with couples (honeymoons & anniversaries were very common). I think we were the only mother-daughter duo, but that was fine. It made it easy for the staff to remember us! Our room (and most rooms, based on conversations) had a big window from the bedroom into the bathroom shower. Very awkward -- from the bedroom, you could see your companion sitting on the toilet or showering. There was no good way to block this window. The entire resort was very clean and well-kept. The slightly tired furniture in the rooms was not a problem since it was kept so clean. We didn't go to spend time in our room and admire the furniture! The grounds, beach, pools, restaurants and common areas were all very clean. We loved Chez Isabelle for dinner, and usually went to the buffet for breakfast and/or lunch. Spice was also good for dinner. We had room service for only one meal, but it was delivered quickly and was good. Staff was very friendly -- most everyone greeted you as you passed by. We had good service from everyone at the resort. We got even better service by leaving a few dollars on the table after meals (and often $5 or $10 for dinner). We also tipped bartenders and housekeepers. This ensured that we were given nice seats wherever we ate and our pool bartender knew our order. They work so hard and for such long hours -- we were glad to give them a little extra. Great trip!
