Almost, almost paradise - what a beautiful resort!

Posted Sep 15, 2016
Pros: Almost everything. Only downfalls were the restaurant availability and the Wi-Fi.
Cons: Restaurant reservations. First day there and all restaurants were booked for all 4 nights there. That was very disappointing. Should warn customers
Location: We did not leave the resort - felt no need to.
The location of this hotel was fabulous. The beach was awesome. Everyone on staff that we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. The arrangement of the resort and the transportation around the resort was great. They supplied ample options for entertainment if you didn't want to just sit on the beach or in a pool at a bar all day. We saw a few shows, a couple in the open air theater and one in the market square. The options for shopping, in the square was accommodating, but the prices were extremely high. Try not to forget any essentials, suntan lotion, bug spray, etc. - because it is very expensive. (Bug spray is definitely needed if you are prone to mosquito bites, got a lot of bites the first night, before I purchased my expensive bug spray.) Food was good and there was a lot of variety. We only ate in the main dining halls, never in one of the restaurants. Our room was fairly large, but the air conditioning didn't work as well as we would have liked it too. But overall the room was clean and sufficient for our stay. We really did not spend much time in the room. Activities on the beach were nice. We did some aerobics one day, that was very interesting. The entertainment in the bars was also pretty good. Vendors are allowed in the gated resort, but it appears they are regulated. They are not too harassing and are all stationed near the main lobby or in the market square. Finding deals with the vendors is a strong possibility.

Disgusting, horrible service, rude staff

Posted Sep 13, 2016
The rooms was dirty, hot, and horrible. We had to be switched to 5 different rooms.. The staff was rude I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. The toilet and the room was the nastiest toilet I've ever seen. They put us in a room where a guest was already checked in and he answered the door naked. I will forever be traumatized!! I will never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel!!

Not so much luxury

Posted Sep 7, 2016
Pros: pools were nice
Cons: customer service, better training for staff, bug spray.
There were roaches in room. I found one crawling around which my boyfriend killed. And another one surprised me while I was making my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Please see pictures. I began to take pictures because there was a roach crawling on a wall next to a dinner table at the Punta Cana buffet restaurant, but didn't have my camera with me to capture that disaster. On my last day, I decided to visit the spa. Thought it would be a nice way to end the trip, boy was I wrong. The massage therapist was very nice and did a good job. I got an after-sun treatment and a muscle massage. Before booking the appointment, I was informed spa charges would be added to the room, so I didn't think to bring a credit card or cash. Upon completion of my services, the manager, a pregnant lady in the spa, told me I needed to go to the front desk to pay for services. This was incorrect as she made the massage therapist escort me to the front desk to pay where I confirmed I could in fact pay upon check out. I understand misunderstandings of policy what I don't appreciate was how rude she was and how condescending she was. Needless to say I will never return to this hotel.

stay away

Posted Aug 31, 2016
Pros: The beach is nice
Cons: Service, towels, good, making customers feel liked instead of feeling like interrupting them doing nothing
I don't typically write reviews and take most things with a grain of salt. However, this trip I feel I need to warn people of. I did read the reviews stating that the place was big, but said cant be that big. Well I was wrong it is that big. We paid for the upgrade to be closer to the beach, but that put us farther away from the hotel lobby. The trams do run every 10 to 15 minutes however most of the time they are full. We most of the time ended up going for a ride in the opposite directions just to get seats. The help in the Hicenda suites is terrible, they are slow and really don't care about your situation. We had trouble several times with them. The drinks are watered down and tasteless. The food is tasteless and most have flies all over the place. My entire family was sick for a entire week after returning home. The reservation system is a joke. They tell you places are full but there are empty seats. We had a couple eating with us that just showed up an hour early and they were seated. I have been to two other all inclusives in the DR and would highly recommend they over this place. The Excellence and the Majestic Colonial. This place is too big and they really dont care about their customers. Please don't insult me by reply to this review as nobody was willing to help with any issue while we were there. Forget getting towels finally last day tipped guy and somehow the next min we had them.

Above Basic All Inclusive Resort - could be Great!

Posted Aug 15, 2016
Pros: The quality and variety of food at the buffets and restaurants was good. Having a show for each night was nice also.
Cons: The level of service.
Location: We stayed at the resort and did not venture out.
Having stayed in several all inclusive resorts in the DR, Cozumel and Jamaica, I felt this resort was pretty basic. To caveat this though, the resort while we were there was at 100% occupancy, so I am sure the service can be better. To start, we were not told about how or where to get beach towels so we spent a while our first day looking for them. Although this was not an issue after the first day and really a very easy process, it would have been nice to be told up front. We made sure to trade out our towels each day upon leaving the beach and to get to the beach early to claim our chairs. Second, it was not explained to us about how to make reservations for the three allotted visits to the A la Carte restaurants. I spent time almost daily trying to get our reservations made. Overall, the resort was very basic. However, we never had to wait at any of the buffets to have a meal, there were times when lines would form outside of the breakfast and dinner buffets. The quality and variety of the food was good. I was never unable to find something desirable to eat. In addition, the nightly shows were very entertaining, however, we never made it to the Village to see those shows. The one hour of free Internet each day was a little challenging at first. I would rank this above average of the resorts I have stayed, and I am a bargain shopper when it comes to where I stay. They could have done a few things to make it easier, but overall, nothing was impossible to figure out.

The hotel's Bars closed too early. Not much to do, eat or drink after 11:30 am. The only place open is the Bachatable Club, which had no air conditioner during my stay.

Good in overall. We got a free upgrade, although it was a long wIt for checkin. Staff needs to organize better. But the hotel facilities are great.
