Will not go back, save your money try other place

Pros: The beach is still beautiful and cleaning staff very nice
Cons: All the issues above....
Location: We liked the beach, got married on the beach
We got married here on the beach 10 years ago, and we were looking forward to go back for our 10 year anniversary and take our son there. Unfortunately there were a lot of issues starting with check in... The staff.. Paola started by wanting to sell us another type of suite, closer to the beach, we said not interested, then she left us waiting without saying anything... Long story short, they did not have a double queen bed suite although this was all paid in advance, they eventually brought a twin bed for our son. Next day they said they were taking us for breakfast at VIP suite, and make sure we have our passports and be able to show a credit card.... Watch out... They were trying to SCAM us into buying some sort of time share... They backed out when we said firmly we are not giving them any info, and my husband questioned their practice of getting your data before you see a contract.. Other major issues... Unsanitary conditions... Flies in food area, some foods were looking scary...ex cheeses or raw fish not kept on cooling station, and not safe to eat if stayed too long warm... I and my son got food poisoning from seafood paella that was cooked on the beach, after that we ate mostly food just coming off the grill.. The room had a mold smell....Full of moskioes, every restaurant we went to was too hot to sit and wait for them to bring the food....we left from 2 of them before dessert because we could not stand the heat, eventually just went to the buffet one.

Nice hotel by the beach

Wonderful experience! My boyfriend and I (24 years old) just stayed at this hotel for a week. The staff is very friendly and did their best to understand English. The restaurants were very good and the buffet had many options for picky eaters. This hotel is connected to the two other Iberostar locations and we were able to utilize their facilities which made the grounds very big! Would definitely recommend to couples as well as to families.

I thought I would have an ocean view

I expected and paid for an OCEAN VIEW suite. I got a room that was located on the ocean side however the ocean view was completely blocked by thatch umbrellas. We were very dissappointed. Twice awaking during the night to use the bathroom I was greeted by roaches.

Beautiful All-Inclusive on Beach with g-f food

Pros: The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We needed an extra blanket and they kept up with our minibar preferences.
Cons: The rooms are dated, but the bathrooms have been updated. The common grounds and facilities are lovely.
Location: Visit Saona Island with the Dressel diving group on Thursdays. Miguel and Sasha were very kind and helpful.
Gorgeous beach resort with gluten-free breads and muffins offered at each meal in the buffet. Also, of the 5 restaurants we ate at, at least 2 of them had gluten-free entrees marked on the menu. The resort also has a chef on staff to help with special diets. Chef Victor told me to ask for him any time I had questions about what to eat. He even made me a surprise gluten-Free dessert one night--a rich blueberry sauce over flan. Beautiful and very, very good. In one restaurant, I asked about g-f bread and the waiter did not understand what I was asking for. He went to another waiter and was promptly reprimanded for not knowing about the bread. I believe my dietary restriction was respected and addressed. There was ice cream at the lunch buffets and fresh fruit at every buffet. In the beach buffet, I did not ordered an omelet because the omelets were cooked on the same grill as pancakes. At the front buffet, there was a separate omelet grill.

The PERFECT resort!!!

This is absolutely the most PERFECT resort!!! It is within 30 minutes of the airport so it doesn't take long to get to your resort. Everything about this resort is amazing and easily within walking distance. The restaurants, the drinks, the pool, the friendliness of the staff--all unbelievable!! The best part--the beach---STUNNING!!! I would recommend this resort to anybody and cannot wait to return!!

Superior service, right on beach, WILL RETURN!!!

Check in with sweet Santos. Given king size bed upon request. Made dinner reservations with Olfa when we checked in and then again mid stay. Had no trouble getting a table where/when we wanted to eat. Japanese and Steakhouse-our favorites. Japanese chefs, Santo and Oscar -Both were a lot of fun and we were fond of our drink waiters at Japanese & Steakhouse. Some loved the grand buffet. Abundance of good cocktails, wine, and drink service on the beach as well as everywhere on the resort. Beach towel exchange was available at pool daily. We didn't participate in activities but there was plenty for anyone: volleyball, ping pong, horseshoes, bingo, foam party, etc. Minibar was stocked daily with plenty of bottled water, Coca Cola, Beer, & chips/snickers/M&Ms etc. We had the spa junior suite with robes, slippers and umbrellas(which we used a couple times), nightly turn down. There were a few English speaking channels on tv. It barely rained at all and weather turned out perfect. The afternoons were especially breezy. Possibly the best beach weather I've experienced. Plenty of lounge chairs. The ground staff kept the place immaculate, sweeping sidewalks, beach clean. Market on beach-beautiful art! Bought oil painting! Fresh flowers on our last night. Staff all so friendly. Best service we have ever had!! We carried $100 in one dollar bills to tip. only negatives: bed not very comfortable and only left 2 washcloths a day(had to ask for more). Will very likely visit again!!

Nice vacation getaway

Cons: Rooms could use some updating. Better control over chair holding at the pool/beach, hundreds of towels just on chairs without any other stuff
Location: We didn't do any excursions and just stayed at the resort.
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying at the Iberostar Bavaro Suites from May 6-9. A few highlights below: Checkin - We arrived around 2pm but check in is not until 3pm. We weren't able to get into our room right away and went to have lunch. When I went to check back around 3pm, the room still wasn't ready. A little frustrated but didn't ruin our day and we only had to wait about 15 more minutes. Meals - We ate breakfast at the main buffet every morning and lunch at the pool buffet every afternoon. There was plenty of selection but the options didn't change much day to day. For dinner, we went to 3 different specialty restaurants. Night 1 we went to the steakhouse, which was just located at the same area where the lunch buffet happens by the pool. I was initially surprised by this as I'm used to the restaurant dining being indoors at separate restaurant style locations. We weren't able to get a reservation until 9pm. When we arrived, we saw that there was a wedding party dining at a large table that was just wrapping up eating their meals and heading to the beach for dancing. We got appetizers at the buffet station and waited for our steaks... which didn't arrive until after 10:15pm! We started watching all the food coming off the grill and praying it was coming to our table. Our next 2 experiences (Jambalaya/Cajun & the Hibachi restaurant) were much better. Great food and great service! Recommend both!

Cons: Prohibit smoking within the premises
Few negative points: 1. Guests were smokingin in the premises. There were kids and s This should be prohibited. 2. Some staff couldnt speak English. They should be trained to servive non spanish speaking clients.
