Nice Hotel by the Beach

This hotel became an awesome experience for me. First off, the staff are very friendly. It almost feels like home away from home. I had the junior suite, which had 24 hour room service. Pool is spacious. The delicious ice cream and whatever drink you want on the beach made the trip that much more enjoyable. The restaurant selections were superb and the buffet was pretty good. Would recommend for a stay. Worth it.

I like this hotel. The food was excellent, stuff was very nice, the beach is perfect. The biggest plus, as for me, a lot of the stationery palm leaf beach umbrellas. Small problem is the slippery tile around the hotel. Also, our keys were always needed to be reprogrammed.

Lovely getaway

This is the second Iberostar I've been two. I REALLY liked the smallness/ease of access of the Montego Bay, Jamaica location compared to the large size of this resort... Had to walk quiet a ways to get to the pool/beach which you can't even see till you're right up on it. However, I still loved that my suite was closest to what I go to a resort for: their gym (newer/well maintained equipment and cool but waaay too tiny building) and their spa (three different treatment days with Wanda - HIGHLY recommend!!! - not including multiple trips for their spa amenities that were included with my suite upgrade). Really nice wait staff at one of their main buffets - Wascar took excellent care of me! Lovely lights everywhere and beautiful Christmas decorations. Suite bathroom definitely needs updating! Overall a lovely place, lovely staff, and a great stay :-)

Not what I thought

Pros: The grounds were very nice. The restaurants were all very good. The dining staff at each were very good. The food was also very good.
Cons: Need more than just spanish spoken. Entertainment staff could do better. Everything they did was in spanish, shows and poolside. Involvment limited
Location: We didn't venture off resort
This was our 4th Iberostar stay, our first at this resort and country. We were a bit let down. If you speak fluent and primarily spanish you can communicate. If not, you can't understand the majority of the staff, security guards and entertainment staff. Our TV in our room did not work and our sink was backed up, we called to report both the first day we were there and 5 days later they fixed them. The teen club (our son is 14) would not allow him or 2 others his age to enter without a passport. I'm not sure how many parents out there allow their children to actually take their own passports around with them but we are not comfortable with this. Underage people have specific wrist bands they are given at check in and this should be enough. Then the security guards spoke NO english. Its supposed to be an all inclusive resort, the teenagers found a pool table in one of the restaurants and it only worked with 4 quarters. We went to get change and the bartender didn't have any change and didn't know what we were talking about. We then went to the front desk and asked for change and they said they didn't have any for us to go to the casino. And the front desk didn't even know they had a pool table. The casino staff said they didn't have quarters either which is strange since they have several quarter slot machines. I was also told since we were returning quests we would have spa credits, that didn't happen. The bartenders can only make very specific drinks that are on the menu

This hotel really caters to Europeans. The staff was not as friendly and helpful as other resorts we have been to. The food was horrible.

Decent Vacation

Pros: Beach, waiter staff, resort grounds
Cons: A little febreez in the rooms would help, hotter food, better salt shakers
Location: Stayed at the resort the entire length of stay.
Overall, the resort complex was very nice. However, when we got to our room we found out the entire complex was out of water due to a water main break. We were never told this when we checked in. Running strictly on island time, a 20 minute repair turned into many hours and we did not have water until we woke up the following morning. During our entire stay the room was very musty smelling and the closet smelled like a bad case of BO. The beach was great and the staff at the resort were helpful even though many didn't speak english. The beach huts are placed very close together and if you want privacy forget about it. Also, if you expect a good location on the beach be ready to get up very early each mornin and stake your claim. The food at the buffet was decent, but often times it was cold by the time you got to your seat. They do not bring their salt shakers in at night and with the humidity it is almost impossible to get any to work.

Nice hotel with good entertainment staff.

Hotel over all in general was pleasant. For being an all inclusive hotel it was ok. The gourmet restaurants had very tasty food and had good service. However the drinks can use improvement. They mainly only had the basic tropical cocktails on the drink menus and lacked different mixers to mix them with. Didn't have any top shelf brands to offer either. On the other hand the hotel staff was very attentive and accommodating. They have a very interactive entertainment staff and they have many activities for all ages. The rooms were spacious & clean.

Horrible Service (false advertising)

Pros: a couple of the staff (and i literally mean 2) were super upbeat and friendly "drinkie drinkie" Maria at the Pool was the highlight of the trip.
Cons: if there was some follow through on services, every level was sub par
Location: The beach was absolutely beautiful, but the pool was full of families with children, no adult only pool, no swim up bar, and no room service
stayed at an Iberostar in Mexico twice before this trip to DR. will not go back to Iberostar again because of this last visit in DR. -WEBSITE SAYS ROOM SERVICE, BUT THERE IS NO ROOM SERVICE -huge language barrier, they either don't like it if you don't speak spanish or can't speak english -took 3 days to get mini fridge fixed and 4 total calls, 2 with guest services -took 3 calls to get sheets for extra bed -ocean view room was actually a pool view and could barely see the ocean -was promised $70 US dollars to compensate for mini fridge not being fixed timely, never received it -was offered a 10:30 appointment to meet and discuss the loyalty program. 30 mins in we were still waiting in a room while people after us were already served and left, we were then offered to reschedule to later the same day or the next day, just ended up walking out -when making restaurant reservations, we were offered seafood and international, we were told they were different restaurants but there actually the very same. to make matters worse, they made a reservation at the american place which we never asked for overall disappointing trip, will not be back to DR or Iberostar due to this trip

Not as advertisd.

Room not ready, refrigerator did not work, bathroom drain plugged, flies on buffet food, room not ocean view as advertised, called three times in 2 hours to get towels then had to go find them myself. Grounds were clean and staff was friendly just unresponsive especially the restaurant waiters. Would not recomend

Okay hotel for the price

Pros: -friendly staff -nice beach
Cons: -food -full ocean view rooms
Just okay rooms. I had made a reservation for an "ocean view" but the view you get is the pool and not a full ocean view. The food was not that good. They should have the food cover because there are flies everywhere. Do yourself a favor and look for another hotel.
