Beautiful hotel but aggressive sales ruined trip

Pros: Clean rooms, comfortable bed, clean beach, not too big, fantastic food, attentive butlers & wait staff
Cons: No should mean no when they are trying to sell you any service or 'upgrades'. Because of this I can't recommend the hotel - it's a pity
The hotel is beautiful! It's not too big, the rooms are gorgeous, food is fantastic, great selection of drinks (high end alcohol) but poor selection of wine. We had two butlers (Alejandro and Simon) who took outstanding care of us. They were available, accommodating and made sure we had what we like in the room. Both of them deserve big thanks for the care they took of us. The wait/cocktail staff were attentive (especially Keyla). The food was surprisingly good - even the buffets were great since they don't put out a huge amount of any one item so it all tasted fresh. The downside that made it very difficult was the upselling from the staff trying to get us to sit in on a 90 minute 'presentation' to join their club level. I said REPEATEDLY that I was not interested and they would not leave us alone. We even had the head of the concierge come up and ask about our stay the day after this happened. I told him all the positives about our stay and also told him that i am totally against the aggressive sales when on vacation. He then proceeded to launch into sales pitch AGAIN. I was so ticked off I don't think I'll ever come here again or recommend this place. We also experienced this aggressive sales a third time with someone from the spa staff that stood outside the breakfast area to trying to find business. Again, I said no no no and yet he wouldn't stop. I'm done being harassed on vacation and found it offensive that no didn't mean no...it meant try harder.

Great Hotel staff goes out of their way to make everybody comfortable. Any problem you have address it to your butler he will handle it.

The Iberostar Grand Bavaro is a excellent resort

Pros: Everything..
This was a great experience. The hotel is first rate and the amenities, food and staff are all excellent. I do not often return to destination hotels but will make this the exception. We loved it.

Not a 5 Star, 4.3 at best...

Cabanas by pool a problem No drink service at the beach Dinner at restaurants were awesome Omelet and crepe makers at breakfast were super nice Ariel the singer in the lobby was amazing Alfredo the Expedia guy was TERRIBLE. He wasn't helpful at all. Worst rep ever. Photography wasn't available through resort Star friends were amazing The SPA facilities were terrible and the service was worse. No one assisted us through hydro therapy.

Mostly Fantastic

Pros: Conveniences, restaurants, facility maintenance, friendly and courteous staff.
Cons: Expectations for service
Location: We enjoyed the Iberostar Casino close by with concierge service.
This was our second time at this hotel. The first time was excellent, this time we got almost the exact same room with the same view. We thought we would qualify for an upgrade but that was OK. The main issue we had was a room attendant that came in the room completely unannounced and was "confused". After complaining to Faviana, she more than made up for this, giving us a much better room, complimentary spa massage, and several room amenities such as a cold bucket of champagne and beer. Faviana went out of her way to make us feel welcome and was outstanding. Restaurants were good, but we really liked the Japanese the best. Beach access and pool were outstanding again. Other than the attendant glitch, it was an excellent time! We would go back a third time.

Excellent hotel on the beach

We stayed in a junior ocean front suite for our honeymoon in early April. Our stay was amazing. The service was outstanding. Anything you need, you call your butler and they will help you. All of the people we encountered in the Dominican were warm and friendly. The view from our room was nice - a mix of palm trees, ocean, and beach. Our patio was very large and relaxing. We went on two excursions and felt safe traveling through Punta Cana. We are looking forward to returning! The people are so nice and welcoming.

Relaxing Visit

My partner and I traveled to Punta Cana for the first time and, having stayed at other Iberostar Grand resorts, we opted for their Grand Hotel Bavaro. The resort design is wonderful with immaculately-landscaped grounds, several beautiful pools, and ample areas for quiet relaxation if that is what you choose. They have the best stretch of beach in the area if you'd prefer to be closer to the ocean. The staff is friendly, always saying 'Hola!" and ensuring we are enjoying our time. We celebrated an Anniversary yesterday and our butler, Silvestre, went out of his way to create a romantic evening including a bubble bath with a bottle of champagne, rose petals on our bed, and then the delivery of a delicious cake. The pool bartenders are happy to make what you desire, and our favorites there have been Lely and Silverstre (different from our butler) who was willing to learn a new drink that is my partner's favorite from one of our local Manhattan restaurants. Every morning, Natali provided attentive care at our breakfast, bringing mimosa, espressos, and sparkling waters. We particularly enjoyed dining at the Gourmet and Italian restaurant. Do not hesitate to request the wine menu at each restaurant as they offer many additional bottles that are still included on the all-inclusive. If you are seeking an indulgent trip where you are able to relax, enjoy quiet days poolside, and have any need met by a generous staff, you will be more than happy to visit Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro.
