Nice hotel, claiming 5 Stars but not quite there

Posted Oct 18, 2016
Pros: The shows at night were well done and the lobby staff and buffet staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Watered down alcohol, VIP sales pitch, Specialty restaurant food. Some specialty restaurants require pants, but they don't enforce.
Location: Many excursions available to include zip lining, dune buggies, para sailing, and shopping.
My wife and I were there to celebrate our 25 anniversary. We stayed in the adult only section. The room we stayed in was nice. A large comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The room lack enough power plugs to charge devices. The TV is small and the signal is not good on the TV. The property is nice and maintained. However, there are area that need maintenance. Also, they were areas that were dirty and needed to be cleaned up and were not done until night time. The pool area and the beach area are nice. There are many rooms that are a significant walk to the beach. Don't worry if you don't want to walk, there are golf carts to take you to and from the beach. There is a snack bar near the beach, but there is not one near the pool. There is sushi at the pool if you like sushi. Otherwise, there will be a walk to get a snack. The buffet restaurants are available for breakfast lunch and dinner. Specialty restaurants are only available by reservation. Our reservations were always after 9PM because of availability. The food in the specialty restaurants was not good and the wait staff in the restaurants is hit and miss. They will try to sell you a VIP service to there properties in the Caribbean and Spain. Everything is done on a not pad. Prices are outrageous and many they leave many questions unclear without good answers. It's much like a time share proposal.

Nice hotel, close to beach.

Posted Oct 18, 2016
The hotel itself was very nice with beautiful pools and close to the beach. The staff was friendly for the most part. The cocktail waitresses could have been a lot better, at night especially they seemed to huddle together, talk extremely loudly and ignored guest.. it was easier to go inside to the bar for a drink. Also the food was not good. However the hotel was clean and most the staff was great.

Hotel was very clean and quiet

Posted Oct 18, 2016
Pros: The hotel was amazingly clean, there was always someone cleaning or tending to the gardens.
Cons: Food and drinks
Location: Dues to hurricane Matthew nearby, our activities were limited to Hoyo Azul (which was ok, not worth the price) and the Dune Buggy tour (must do).
This was the first time I did an all inclusive vacation, a lot of things were new to me. I didn't enjoy most of the food and the drinks were nothing special, except for the Mamajuana. Everything was overly salted and over cooked. The breakfast buffet was good, they do fresh eggs to order, the seafood buffet on Tuesday was decent, but like I said, over salted. Out of all the restaurants, the tepanyaki table at Japanese restaurant was one of the better dining spots. We stayed at Ambar (adults only), they have and a pool and beach area exclusive to adults only, and it was very quiet and relaxing. Our butler Maurice, was amazing. She took care of all of our dining needs for our entire stay, and checked in on us daily. It was my birthday trip so she had our room decorated in balloons and had a cake and champagne sent on the day of my birthday. Our room was very clean, the bed was huge and so comfortable. But the shower door didn't close all the way the the air vent in the closet leaked a lot of water every night.

Everything and more

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Pros: We loved everything! The great drinks, fantastic scenery, cleanliness, food, staff, array of activities.
Cons: Nothing! Everything was perfect.
Location: Great location! Shops were close by.
Our experience was amazing from the time we stepped on the property. We were treated like royalty. We met with our concierge Samuel who went above and beyond his call of duty. He made sure our honeymoon was amazing by surprising us everyday when we returned to our room with gifts, fruit, etc. Our final night there, our room was decorated with candles, rose petals, champaign and the jacuzzi was filled with bubbles! The entire staff was friendly and always had a smile on their face. The hotel is beautiful with well kept grounds, numerous activities and great food. We will be back!

Pros: Everything! Super clean, new complex, great drinks and food!
Cons: Nothing.
Location: close to one hour drive from Punta Cana airport, close to the beach
We had an awesome stay in the Ambar Hotel in Punta Cana. Our room was in Ambar 2. Very nice large bedroom and bathroom. Pool in front of patio, just few steps away from the room. The hotel complex is huge, it includes more hotels. Even the beach was little far, no problem. There are golf carts everywhere available to get there. It was very clean and new. Employees are very friendly and spoke good English. We enjoyed the drinks at the pool and lobby. For breakfast and dinner we only went to the buffet in Ambar 2. Food was amazing and wonderful decorated. For lunch we did go to the snack bar close to the beach. We really liked their food selection, kind of Caribbean European food. Definitely would go back there again. We really enjoyed staying there and had a great time! Only one thing I didn't like, we've been waiting in the shuttle bus for 45 minutes at the airport, waiting for more people, to get to the hotel.

Absolutely fantastic resort!

Posted Oct 8, 2016
Location: It was gorgeous, the beach is pristine, and there are so many posts you couldn't swim in all of them.
The resort, and grounds are meticulous, the food is great, the spa was amazing, honestly the ONLY thing I would change is softer mattresses. We will absolutely return many times!
