First stay was great, second not so much

Posted Apr 28, 2017
Pros: nighttime entertainment was great but schedule for daytime activities was hit or miss, staff in Blue was not nearly as good as in Esmeralda
Cons: staff incredibly unhelpful wasted a lot of vacation time checking in and dealing with getting the correct rooms, construction nearby, food poisoning
Location: beach and pool areas are amazing
So, I want to preface this with the fact that two years ago we (husband and I) stayed in same hotel and loved it and this time around brought our whole family (11 people) with us only to have a lot of issues: 1) check in was a nightmare - we arrived two days earlier than everyone else and asked to make sure two of the rooms for the folks coming later were on the same first floor because of our elderly parents/grandmother, when the rest of our group arrived two days later the staff still didn't figure out where to place them and we spent 4 hours going back and forth trying to get correct rooms (once we got rooms, the keys didn't work in either room, requiring another trip to the front desk) and then one of the rooms turned out to be smoking so needed changing after all. 2) of the 11 people who came on the trip, 6 got food poisoning the first day and the hotel didn't seem to care at all - neither did the Expedia rep

Birthday in Punta Cana

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: the pool the beach the ambiance of the facility
Cons: ensuring customers knew what was going on each day and night on the compound.
upon are arrival we were approached by a taxi / sales rep. I would suggest you pre book transportation ahead of time so you don't have to deal with the solicitations. also if you are planning on spending I wouldn't convert any money because they welcome American. we were taken for money due the rate of conversion changing vice the exchange rate at the airport we flew from. it was 40 in us and 47 in DR that's is a pretty big difference the more money you get. So one thing I will say is research your resort and make sure they have all the stuff you look to do because they want you to come and basically stay and not have a want to leave the resort unless your taking a tour. I didn't understand it at 1st but the more I looked into it I see why they are all in future competition so they cater and ensure your well taken care of within the confines of the establishment. I enjoyed the stay the night life was nice and the pool and beaches in my facility were great. I would suggest the hotel have the itinerary for activities for the customer so you can know what is going on. also the mini bar was no good and 3 of the 4 days ours wasn't re stocked I drank more of the alcohol I bought at he duty free vice the resort and the meals and setting times isn't easy unless your plans are mapped out. to say I am eating this time and most spots were full so you would miss and have to figure it out was not fun but over all I enjoyed my 43rd b day and would do it again.

Nice hotel for the price

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Service staff was helpful although most did not speak English. Overall, they helped if needed.
Cons: Better communication of daily events. Daily restock of mini bar in room.
Overall experience was nice. The room was nice and cleaned daily. The mini bar was not stocked daily so we had to call everyday. Inconvenience, but not a deal breaker. The pool was nice size and beach was very close. The beach was very clean and amazing. Many restaurant options and entertainment every night. I would revisit again.

Great Resort! Very close to the beach

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: The beach, the pools, the staff, the entertainment, and the bars.
Cons: Wifi connection, and to have the pool/beach bars open longer as well as the regular lobby bars open longer
Location: Snorkeling, swimming with seals, stingrays, sharks, and dolphins
We went there for a girls long weekend getaway, we went into the resort with an open mind based upon the reviews that we read. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised, all staff were very helpful and very nice. Some staff do expect some tips but otherwise the staff was more than helpful with all of our needs. The pools are very nice, the beach is amazing and we were always able to find chairs at either place. The entertainment at night is fun, and the food is pretty good. The drinks were great as well, and if you want more alcohol in your drink, just ask the bartender and they are more than happy to put more in for you. There was construction outside our window, but as long as we get kept the ceiling fan on, we did not notice that there was construction right next to us, plus we were only in our room to sleep or shower so it was not a problem to us. I would suggest to make reservations at some of the restaurants because the buffet does gets a little old after awhile. We booked our transportation to the resort and from the resort to the airport through expedia and we had no issues. We also booked an excursion through expedia with the dolphin explorer group and it was amazing, I would highly suggest them to anybody. All in all it was a fantastic trip, I wish we could have stayed longer, I definitely would go back.

The 5-star resort could do much better!

Posted Apr 26, 2017
Pros: Food, clean beach with shades and beautiful landscape design.
Cons: Please satisfy the essentials before offering extra (often unnecessary) services
Location: Saona Island is a true natural beauty!
My wife and I stayed at this resort for 8 nights in August 2016. Since this time of the year is considered "low season" in the DR, the resort was not overcrowded. However, there were enough people to make the restaurant reservation difficult and encourage us to wake up earlier to choose the best places on the beach. I gave this resort 3 stars for the following things: 1 – The food at the buffet restaurants was great! There were a good variety of dishes and unlimited local alcohol. But the biggest surprise for us was their $ 2.00 charge for coconuts. That was like a joke for 5-star resort. 2 – Clean beach with shades. 3 - Beautiful landscape design throughout the resort complex. Unfortunately, there was the dark side. Almost every day we had to resolve different issues and couldn’t relax. After the check-in we discovered that the AC in the room didn’t work (the ventilation issue leaded to the strong smell of laundry in the room). The receptionist offered another room but we had to wait until the next day’s afternoon. When we moved to the other room, my new key card stopped working. Then something happened to the Wi-Fi in our building. After 3 complaints the I-net access was restored after 24+ hours. Next day the room was not cleaned on time. In the other evening our bathroom door locked from the outside so we had to go at the reception and ask for help to open it. The Jacuzzi bath didn’t work. In addition, almost every evening we had to catch and kill mosquitos in the room

Great place!

Posted Apr 26, 2017
Pros: There wasn't much I didn't like. The staff was extremely nice; food was good; rooms were clean; drinks flowed.
Cons: 1. Bathrooms in lobby were way too hot. Needs air condition, fans, or ventilation. 2. Should have a "snack like" area open all the time with small sn
Location: While the husbands went out on a fishing trip, us ladies had massages at the spa. Excellent experience had by all.
Loved it there. Would definitely like to go back.

Definitely No Luxury!

Posted Apr 26, 2017
I've been to Punta Cana 7 times now. I have always tried to stay at different Adults Only hotel sections that have good reviews. Typically you will see a great difference in pretty much every aspect between the family and the adults only sections. Not here! You pretty much have an OK resort but just for adults, nothing "high end". Key things, NO Premium drinks at the pool bar, and theres is no beach bar. If you like to sit or lay close to the beach, waiters could take hours to come by which leaves you either without drinks or having to walk all the way to the pool bar. By the time you make it back to your beach chair, is pretty much time to head back to the bar.

Very Disappointing/frustrating. Will never go back

Posted Apr 24, 2017
Pros: The room was nice, although dark. There was a nice sitting area, but no lighting so you couldn't read there.
Cons: The staff should be more attentive and friendly.
Location: There are shuttle trams that are constantly running to the other parts of the hotel to take you to the other restaurants and entertainment.
Upon arrival, the scene behind the lobby registration desk was something out of the Three Stooges. No sense of urgency, no reassurance that our reservation was being looked into and mostly chaos. When we were given our rooms keys, we were pointed in the direction of where to go and we were off to find it on our own. We finally found our villa, and our room, only to realize that our view was a construction site with jack hammers sounding off etc. After having been up since 3:30 AM, and quite tired, we made our way back to the lobby to speak with a manager (no one would admit to being the manager) and expressed our dissatisfaction. We were finally given another room. In a nutshell, the food was terrible; mostly buffets. You can make reservations with Guest Services for dinner, but they have very little information (no menus) to show and basically tell you "French, Japanese, Steak, Caribbean." We did not want to eat at the buffet for dinners and were misinformed about which ones were buffets. The beach was beautiful but extremely crowded. the chairs and huts were on top of each other. If you didn't get out there to "reserve" your chair with a beach towel by 8 am, forget trying to find 2 chairs, and if you want to be up close to the ocean for the beautiful view, make that 6 AM. Also, they had hotel approved people on the beach selling cigars, jewelry, handbags etc. I don't want to be bothered with this while on the beach.
