Total Disappointment

Location: Beach was great
On arrival we were not welcomed or offered comfort or anywhere to change to go to the pool or beach prior to check in since our flight was an early arrival. When we did get to our room several light bulbs were blown and couldn't get them replaced throughout the stay. Handle fell off the toilet for flushing, cockroach in the refrigerator, bedbugs in the bed, a broken door handle! All this at a LUXURY 5 star hotel. This was not our first trip to Puna Cana an we have NEVER stayed at a resort like this in the past. It was also the first time we actually said to one another "well only 3 more days til we go home." Meaning we couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. All this was brought to management's attention and when they asked what they could do to make it better, we responded with a refund and send us home. Neither of which was given. Bib big an Total disappointment. I would NOT recommend this hotel.

Don't go to this hotel

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Refrigerators that actually make things cold. Drinks that contain alcohol. An air conditioned restaurant or two. A lobby that isn't blazing hot.
Location: Not much
If you like cold bottled beer, don't go to this place. If you like good wine , go somewhere else. The liquor is so watered down it is laughable. The refrigerators are all lukewarm and your daily allotment of bottled President beer is two bottles. This resort is not four stars by any stretch. I want to stat wehat my total disappointment with this place but this site keeps deleting my review because it is disparaging. All I can say is "Don't go to this resort if you have any other options.

Truly a 5 star resort staffed by 1 star people.

Pros: Grounds, food at the restaurants requiring reservations, beach, and being all inclusive.
Cons: One side of the hotel is uninhabitable and selling rooms there is morally wrong. Telling staff to lie to guests is morally wrong.
Location: Great location, great activities, great guest services to take advantage of them.
First this is not the staff's fault as I am sure they are told to lie to guests. Our experience was not unique as we found many others with the same experience. They did not give us our room key, but gave it to the bellman. Only when we asked where we were, we were told they did not have a room but they got us a better room at Amber Green (not true). As we were taken to our room construction equipment on the neighboring property drove by creating a huge cloud of dust. We refused our room and went back to the lobby. They did nothing. We awoke to dump trucks, cement trucks and drilling 100 foot holes for pilings 25 feet from our balcony. The room was uninhabitable. It was a war zone. We were moved the next day after speaking to our Expedia rep on site. We moved to the other side of a building bordering construction in Amber Blue. There was less active construction there. Bottom line; If you are not a member of the property, you are going to endure lots of noise and dirt. Staff does not give a CR*& about your complaints. They do this day in and day out and just don't care.

Super disappointing

Loud construction next to resort, NO beach view from rooms, hard beds, AC would not blow cold air, mini bar NEVER full and they would not add items listed on brochure. Half of the employees were very rude and disrespectful while others were amazing. Front desk/ managers/ lobby- RUDE. Pool wait staff/ bartenders + Italian wait staff were amazing. Spa staff were the very best!! Pool was huge and spacious + always clean. Overall, our mommies getaway was great b/c no kids. BUT, the resort should only get 2 stars. Very disappointed with Ambar Blue and will not return.

Great Value at All Inclusive Ambar Blue

Wore the hotel asking for a room away from construction. Got the best building (60) on ground floor. Did NOT get dinner reservations or acknowledgment of hour honeymoon ( although I scanned a marriage license as requested) The restaurants were so-so- food not great, portions tiny. Buffets as expected - decent food lots of choices. Service was good- a few gonout of their way, others average. The beach was nice - poor guys taking seaweed constantly to keep it clean. Pool very nice. You have to be out at 6:30 am to get a lounge chair in the shade at either! We enjoyed our 4 day stay. Get an orientation if you go- the place is 5 resorts in one and we had no idea there were shows or what was offered. Figured it out by day Three. Paid $115 pp per night.

Very nice stay 5 day vacation!

Pros: Very clean and spacious bathroom.
Cons: Finish the construction next door.
Location: All the travel agencies are local which you can book transportation, excursion, or other events.
I stayed 5 days at Amber Blue hotel where it was worth the cost, short walk to the beach, very close to the gym, and restaurants. The beach was very beautiful and went to the pool daily. I would get to the beach or pool early to get a beach chair. They did have construction next to my building but only during the day starting around 8 AM to ~5 PM. They have a casino, Congas Bachata club, multiple pools. I did the Marina excursion which is worth the trip! I would probably go again in the near future. I forgot to book transportation so I recommend getting with your travel guide because I was charged 40 dollars just to get the hotel.

Construction, Fleas, Cold food & warm drinks

Sand flew problem on the beach prevented us from spending anytime near the water 24/7 construction on half the resort and the hotel runs a racket of putting everyone next to construction first night then you have to fight to get a room change. Staff was completely unhelpful doing anything unless you tipped, not typical of All inclusives. This place was not all inclusive. All but one bar closes at 5:30. All food served at room temperature. Couldn't get a frozen drink the whole time, melted. Staff make sure no effort to help plan excursions, etc. A/C broken in our room. Shower door broken, had to take baths. I could keep going but the point is I have never felt so ripped off. My wife and I chose a smaller weddding cutting out friends and family so we could afford this honeymoon and now we just wish we didn't go.

Really disappointed trip

Pros: The room was big and confortable
Cons: the front desk staff. Quality of food in the buffet areas and more information about the daily activities.
Location: Hardly made any.
I will never come back. We were almost three days without Air Conditioning. Male members of the Staff were fresh and too friendly with my youngest daughter, doing some inappropriate comments I made a reservation in the Italian Restaurant PORTOFINO, our first day over there to celebrate my daughter's Birthday and they complete ruin the day. WE had to wait 45 mins for the food to come and when we got, it was cold and tasteless. The waiters keep pushing us the buffet and rushing us to order. We asked for Ginger Ale and they brought us 7up. Totally disappointed. I requested a desert to sing happy birthday to my daughter never came in. NEVER EVER AGAIN !!! The buffet in Amber Blue was simple and not dietician balance. no many options to choose from. Flies were all around the food. in conclusion a nightmare.
