Great food, great location & clean.

This resort was wonderful. Great buffet food, descent selection, we found what we liked and stuck with it. Our resort Luxury Bahia Principle Esmeralda was one of six resorts in Grand Bahia. Esmeralda sat right in the beach so we were very close. It was about a 15 minute nice walk from our resort to the beginning of the whole complex. Our resort was very clean, house keeping ran all day long, we never ran out of anything, two large beautiful pools with jetted tubs (not hot though). No problems with pool towels, always enough. The daytime entertainment of salsa dancing, water aerobics and games is quite entertaining. Esmeralda is adult only til May 2017. I will bring my whole family back next time.

Exceptional experience

5 Star experience. All employees treat their guests like family. Especially enjoyed the dance group. They engage and lift the mood of the entire Esmeralda resort to "party level" . Two guys and one girl have amazing talent and contagious energy which puts the guest platform on Latin Music Carvaval level. Amazing. Nonstop energy. Love the people & the emaculate garden resort. All staff give 100%.

excellent vacation spot!

The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was super close to the beach and the pool. There were never lines for anything and it was very clean and easy to get around. The food isn't great but it wasn't terrible. It was a really nice vacation; relaxing but fun

Beautiful views; exceptionally helpful staff; clean rooms; many activities from which to choose. We had a wonderful week at the Esmeralda. This was our second Valentine's Week to stay at this resort.

Excellent Resort

We recently got back from a 4 day, 3 night vacation at this resort. The food is delish, the staff are friendly, accommodating and professional and the grounds are very well kept. It rained the majority of the time we were there but still made the best of it and enjoyed the indoor facilities. I would highly recommend this resort. The Esmeralda is way quieter compared to the other resorts...Punta Cana was noisy, full of children and very crowded. I'm so happy we decided to stay at the Esmeralda. Also, the beach is so close! You can't beat that! Excellent short little getaway :)

The booking of rooms not a good choice all over smoking to the restaurant outside to the pool only inside areas was no smoke

Great Hotel!

Pros: The location.
Cons: Staff could speak better English. And the staff at Ambar needs a lot of improvement!
Location: Location was close to the beach and there were the typical water activities but not much else of interest.
The only problem was they shipped us to a different part of the resort for the first night and the staff at Ambar were not helpful at all. In fact to move we had to cart all of our stuff back to Esmeralda! Once we were back at Esmeralda it was very nice.

Homophobic as hell. Staff speaking ill as we walke

It was a horrible experience. We were relocated from one resort name to a different location because they had double booked and apparently Expedia is a second-class second choice clientele. My boyfriend and I felt very uncomfortable in part due to the almost 100% white 100% straight population but even more so because the Spanish speaking staff were making a horrible homophobic comments about is that we walk past them. My boyfriend is from the Dominican republic but is a meek and humble person and would not confront them. It was clear from their body language and their facial expressions and the tone of their voice is the attitude that we're on full display in their words. Please if you were gay do not go to any of these affiliated resorts. You are not welcome and we were not welcome.
