Nice hotel great pool area

Pros: Pools and the fact the beach was walking distance
Cons: service
Location: location was great, shopping mart not to far, many tours and excursion, you will need a bus or taxi
Upon arriving to DR, the bus service dropped us off that the wrong hotel. They did come back for us after about an hour, we checked in and had dinner. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the housekeeper and some of the other staff. The room was comfortable and had a nice view. Food was great; however, would have like to see more seafood options.The fine dinning every night was great. Kids friendly property and lots to do on site.

Nice clean place to stay for couple of days only

Pros: Cleanliness and friendly staff
Cons: Variety of food and more activities
Location: Location is great, very close to beach and not far from town.
This all inclusive resort is worth its price. The resort is clean and the staff is generally friendly and effective. One example, I got there about 4 hrs before check in time and an hour later they got me a room, I actually saw them working on it and at no extra charge. Beach and pools were kept clean. Do not expect food and activities to vary often. . Although good, food is repeating and "seafood" restaurant had really no seafood. A la carte restaurants were packed so no more room for any reservations since the beginning of the day and this was on an off season getaway. The Pizza restaurant definitely served great crispy pizza with nice toppings. Overall, it is a good place to stay but for no more than a couple of days as foods and activities are just repeating.

Excellent Beach and location

My girlfriends and I traveled to the Dominican Republic for the beach, sand, and drinks. Barcelo did not disappoint in these areas. The outdoor patios, pools, and beach were fantastic. The places it was lacking was in the food (not a lot of variety, not very fresh), service, and room (our toilet and shower repeatedly did not drain and the bathrooms looks like it was fixed shoddy). We also ventured out to the Scape Park for ziplining and swimming in the blue hole; this was fantastic!

A/C at the room not blowing

My bad experience. First 2 day's .we have to sleep with the rolling doors open because a/c not blowing even cool. After 2 days suffering in that room finally customers service change us to an other room. ....

Nice pool and beach but the hotel is very dated

First thing you will notice is that the hotel is very dated. The bathroom is the most uncomfortable shower to bath in. The water spills out into the floor & if you have a baby to bath it is very slippery & uncomfortable. The beds are also uncomfortable. I had terrible back pains which I thought were due to my flight so I got a massage at the spa the first day. But every morning I would wake up with the same pain. My back pain didn't go away until I got home and slept on my bed. The food was okay nothing to boost about and the selection wasn't impressive. If it wasn't all inclusive, I would have eaten at a restaurant outside of the hotel. The drinks are so watered down that even my mother who never drinks was able to have a piña colada with alcohol & not even taste the alcohol. Stick to the beer it's the only thing not watered down. Most of the staff is friendly. I did encounter 1 or 2 that were unfriendly or were simply having a bad day. I was very happy that nothing was stolen from my room and that the pool and beach were very nice. The spa was also very nice. The hotel doesn't have many activities going on so bring a book or something. If you have never been to the country you will find this hotel okay. But if you have you will not like this hotel.

Great hotel for a budget trip, but don't have high expectations. Recommend making dinner reservations every night as the buffet isn't that great for dinner, acceptable for breakfast and lunch.

Great resort right on the beach!

When choosing my vacation i was very picky i knew i wanted to be in punta cana but ive never been...based on the reviews is what brought me to barcelo punta cana. I have not one complaint the food in all of the restaurants were great, everyone was always so helpful and pleasant, the room was beautiful i will be returning back for sure!!

Went in with as much as an open mind as possible after reading multiple bad reviews. Upon arrival to hotel, we were told to leave baggage at front, go check-in, go back to the front to get baggage only to go back in through the same area where we checked in. As soon as we walked into the room, we noticed the room wasn't completely cleaned as we opened the closet & came across clothing from a previous guest. We had requested to have a crib in the room which we didn't before placing a few calls & after several hours later. Once the crib was brought to the room it was extremely dirty (it appeared to have mouse droppings on the bottom wood). There were a couple of days where housekeeping didn't make it to the room to clean & times where the mini bar wasn't replenished, on one occasion it took over 12 hours (3AM) to finally get a bottle of water in the room. The overall appearance of the resort is run down. The beach was nice but the only shade was by the palm tree area which if you're not careful you can trip over the roots. The food was the same pretty much every day & pretty blah. The staff, we found to be very rude & it definitely wasn't the language barrier as we speak the language. The resort seems to post a comment after almost every negative review & claims to be improving the conditions of the resort yet when we were there we saw no one trying to make any changes to either the services (even after complaining) or appearance of the place. Definitely wouldn't go back!

Anyway we attended these issues with our F&B Manager, as we found your concerns very important and had to be attended immediately.
