Great hotel - Except for the food

We just spent our 30th Wedding Anniversary at the hotel. Upon arrival, we were put in a villa with double beds when we had reserved a king room. It took them a day to get this fixed. We love all inclusive for the food, but found their restaurants to be very hit or miss.

TRUE Paradise!

Paradise, Paradise, Paradise!! That is all I kept on saying to myself and my boyfriend while we were there. We stayed 8 days and 7 beautiful nights in the Monarch Villa, which was only a short walk to the beach and main pool area. We stayed in the Monarch Villa - beautiful! We had a garden view which was totally ok because we spent most of our time at the pools and beaches. King bed was fabulous, bathroom was big and loved the separate shower and toilet rooms. The security box was a great feature and we used every day. Made us more comfortable leaving our valuable in the room and thank you for offering it :) Nicole and the staff helping her in the Villa Concierge were more then helpful with accommodating car service to and from the airport (which was only 10 min away) and took care of us in a fast and appropriate time when we arrived and left SCC. She treated us like family, which made it that much more comfortable and enjoyable. She checked in on us from time to time, not too much as she knows her guests want to enjoy their time. She took care of any needs/wants we had prior, during and after our stay. Our butler, Eric...LOVED him!! He treated us to a nice tour of the facilities, answered any and all questions we had and made many useful suggestions per where to eat, what times and took care of picking us up for reservations and taking us to the Castle pool and Ocean Bar. I know hes called a Butler, but Eric was our friend while we there..he talked to us casually and

Honeymoon

My wife and I recently stayed in the castle junior suite at sanctuary. Service was awesome drinks were great food was great the only small nitch in the whole trip was our shower in our room when not in use had a moldy smell coming from the drain which cause the bathroom to smell this way sometimes. Other than that we had an amazing honeymoon and I definitely will be coming back to stay at sanctuary

Great stay! Only negative was how loud our room was. Seemed like what sounded like construction could have started later then 7 or 8am. Other than that small issue it was awesome!

Beautiful Resort

Pros: The food and alcohol were very high quality. The Grill at the beach was our favorite restaurant for lunch and Fusion was an awesome experience.
Location: We did the excursion to Hoya Azul and Sunset Cruise. They were both very fun, but the Sunset Cruise takes you to a sandbar within walking distance.
We had an amazing experience. The resort was gorgeous. The beach is on the smaller-side, but it sits adjacent to Juanillo Beach with access to walk along that stretch of the beach. My only unpleasant thing to say about the experience/resort is the fact that they try and upsell you a different room/suite when you arrive and they have you wait for a '$0 bill' at the end of each meal to try and get tip. I was not a fan of either situation but learned to tip if I wanted or not.

Fantastic island sanctuary overall!

Pros: The shower had digital temperature control and a dual rain head / hand held.
Cons: The food. I was looking forward to gluttony but that was not happening here. Also, the several dining locations had a dress code.
The Castle swim out suite was amazing. We could see the ocean as well as jump directly into a 5 foot deep pool. We were often the only ones in the swim out pool which made for a nice private experience. Another benefit to the swim out suite is that Juanillo beach is just on the other side of the pool, couldn't ask for better access or location. There was a 24/7 security guard stationed at the boarder between the hotel and public Juanillo beach so no worry about safety. The grounds and staff were great, clean, and comfortable. Negatives: The food wasn't very tasty. 24 hour room service was nice but they didn't bring alcohol to the room unless you purchased a bottle (bottles not part of the all-inclusive). The daily mini bar was stocked with a few bottles of beer and soda, we got a bottle of rum at the duty free so we could enjoy drinks by our swim out pool. There were mosquitoes in our room. Unavoidable I imagine but even with spraying 40% Deet on a towel and laying it on top of the bed we still woke up with bites every morning. Spraying the deet on ourselves didn't help much as it's not water resistant. There were 3 shops at the resort all absurdly overpriced. Everything was priced in US dollars and priced high, especially for the quality. A laminated paper placemat that said Punta Cana was $10 (worth maybe $3 at best). A small almond sized piece of Larimar was $65.

Our stay was wonderful!!!....

Pros: We enjoyed everything about the resort..the food was outstanding as well as the staff.
Cons: There was nothing that could be improved
Location: The location was great....we stayed in the Jr. Suite Oceanview room which offered a great view of the ocean....Thank you Edward.
The resort looks exactly like the pictures, from the staff to the food to the daily acitivities, the spa....everything was great!!!....can't wait to come back!!!!

Nightmare trip

Don't go here. Service is horrific. Cockroaches in rooms. Have to call four and five times to have your room cleaned. Very small beach and few activities.
