Nice resort. Disappointed it wasn't a wow resort!

We recently stayed at Sanctuarty Cap Cana and had a good time. We left with mixed feelings about this place. From a quick glance the place looks amazing, but don't look too close. It's a culmination of many small things that left us rather disappointed. Pros: great location, smaller resort and the employees know you by name within a few days, rooms are large, really good food and drinks. Cons: rooms seem dayes and in need of maintenance (our room door handle would fall off and have to be pushed back on to get in), room service very slow-2 hours for breakfast one day, poorly lit, never really cooled off in the room, Butler service upgrade was a waste because what was asked for never happened, shower flooded bathroom, poorly working toilet, finally got an upgrade after 3 nights of complaints to a nicer yet not a spectacular room (had a rooftop hot tub with huge chunk of paint flaking off inside). All in all we spent more money on this vacation than we should have for what we actually received. All the wonderful reviews we had read were made, from what we could see, with the help of an employee down by the pool promoting himself on social media. Not horrible, but have been to better places.

We appreciate the time invested on writing an overview of your stay with us.
There seems to have been a number of deficiencies encountered which are very atypical and not reflective of our brand experience; if this stay was marred by irregular circumstances, we can only renew our apologies and assure you that we have in the meantime briefed the team at great length of your comments.
