Marvellous people, great stay!Posted Oct 2, 2015
I and my family had a great stay at this hotel. Its staff were super friendly and helpful and went out of their way to help. We were given an excellent room upon request and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The room was up to standard, clean and well-maintained. The white-sand beach as owned by the hotel and accessible to its guests was fantastic and we met a family of local ticos, adding to the beauty of the place. We also watched trees packed with parrots; never had we seen so many parrots feeding together. me and my son each were stung by jellyfish, but the property had a clinic with very friendly and competent staff who immediately applied medicine to alleviate the pain - they were very cheerful and competent, in fact, we did not mind the sting, and they made us take differently and somewhat enjoy the unique experience of being stung by jellyfish. The dinner buffet was wonderful, so was the breakfast, with a lot of varieties. They were very well cooked, and the waiting staff were cheerful, friendly and polite. Indeed, great local food with great local staff - what would've been better! We want to say thank to the hotel and its staff - you guys are wonderful, and you should be very proud of yourselves representing the great culture of hospitality of the great country of Costa Rica.

Beatiful resort near the beach and junglePosted Oct 2, 2015
Pros: The setting in the jungle and near two beaches. The abundant wild life, the friendly staff.
Cons: Better wifi connection. A printer available to print my boarding pass
Location: I took a lot of pictures, walks and swims
I love my stay in Punta Leona. I have a superior Selvamar bungalow with a balcony with view on the jungle. The room was clean with comfortable bed. It was large and quiet. The wifi works better when I used my airport express. The staff was very nice. Above all it is the beautiful sites: pools, beaches, butterfly garden, jungle and wild life. I saw many Scarlett Makaws flying over the resort, Playa Blanca is a tropical dream. The pools are well maintained.

Beautiful hotelPosted Aug 24, 2015
Pros: Beautiful, clean, safe hotel
Cons: At the front desk and on the phone the day before our arrival, they said there was a BBQ area. When we arrived, there wasn't any.
My family and I visited this beach hotel for the weekend. It was perfect for us because we have kids. The only thing they said they had but actually didn't was a BBQ area. Too bad we had brought all we needed to use it but there wasn't there any.

Very pleasant. Nice people. Food very expensive.Posted Jul 19, 2015
Pros: I made good friends, playa blanca and the eco system.
Cons: Please read my experience above and everything I have mentioned in there could be improved. Lots of other foreigners were complaining.
Location: Nothing around. No Resort transportation to the nearest city named Jaco.
The fauna and flora were very much enjoyable. Playa Mantas was beautiful; not so clean. The water sucks. Playa Blanca is very nice. Their pool is very small for the hundreds of gests they have and the others they announce they have are smaller than the one I have in my house. Expedia did not offer us an option to buy All Inclusive; that was really bad because the Resort monopolized everything and their food and drinks were very expensive. Another extremely bad thing is that the Resort does not have the service the get their guests from/to the airport. My conclusion is the Resort is fine for the locals and not for the foreigners. I felt very secluded in there because of transportation. Rent a car was absolutely very expensive.

Homework pays off.Posted Jul 10, 2015 on Hotels
Booked a unit for 6 people at Arrecifes. The only thing about the place that made it suitable for 6 people was that it had 3 double beds. It was otherwise inadequate for 6 and was overpriced for what it was. Thankfully, when we raised our concerns with staff at front desk, they were able to find an excellent alternative in another development within the Punta Leona complex, no small feat considering this was high season because of mid-term school break. Come to Punta Leona and enjoy Playa Blanca. Just make sure that you understand the range of accommodations available to avoid surprises.

Reception staff was friendly and helpful but don't even think about perhaps checking into your room before 3pm
