Wonderful!

This morning a coffee with 4 other women I raved about our stay at your hotel. From start of our stay to finish it was awesome. Check in took only moments, at breakfast they staff was checking temperatures of the food and offer to help with my tray. Any question or problem I had was answered with kindness and professional grace. I had stayed at another change hotel the weekend before and had an very bad experience. So way to go Holiday Inn, Puyallup! You made me a happy traveler again! I will be back and tell everyone of my experience!

Speedy check in and very nice clean rooms. Front desk let us check in a couple hours early as they had a room available.

Clean hotel

Pros: Ease of checking in and out; cleanliness of room and common areas; security measures on outside doors
Location: It is next to South Mall and a lot of shopping. Every store is within a two-mile radius.
This hotel is convenient to interstate 5/WA 512. It is quiet and well-maintained. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

First the positive: 1. Room was in excellent condition. Clean and comfortable. 2. Hot tub and pool are well maintained. I used the hot tub :-). 3. Best of all, their hot breakfast was excellent. There was only one staff member who was maintaining the area; restocking, cleaning, cooking, everything on her own. She was highly efficient, polite, quick to answer questions or requests. She did the dishes in the back, and even took the garbage out. For most hotel, you would not think this is a big deal, usually because guests trickle in and out. This place was packed like a favorite restaurant, and she didn't miss a thing. Super gal! On the down side: 1. I found some gray matter frozen in the ice - in my opinion, based on my restaurant experience it was cold water sludge built up in the ice machine pipes. When I took it to the front desk, the night manager initially played it off as he couldn't see anything; then it looks like a dimple in the ice; and finally suggested it might be something normally found in any tap water. So I went back to my room and took a picture with my phone. I waited for the ice cube to melt for the matter to float free, definitely not a dimple. It shows up in the picture, so clearly has substance and not my imagination. And hotel ice machines are expensive and would utilize a filtration system, so it's not likely from outside. Most likely the internal system has not been properly maintained.

Accommodation and staff were nice.

We stayed for 3 nights. When we arrived they said they did not have our reservation. With further research they discovered they had us arriving the night earlier. It's questionable how that occurred. We booked our car and airline at the same time. Using hotels.com for our room. I had been charged for the missed night. The gentleman at the desk was terrific. He said the hotel was full but found us a king suite. He matched our original price and credited us for the missed night. That was really nice of him to do. The room was nice and clean, but had a very musty smell. We tried to have the room switched but the hotel was completely full. We were very lucky to have a room at all. The front desk people were very sweet and insisted on discounting the room one night even though we told them not to worry about it. They said they had just had the carpet cleaned and the musty smell was due to the rug still being damp. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The pool and jacuzzi were nice.
