Pleasant staff but little technical assistance

Posted Jan 2, 2016
The hotel is priced appropriately for its location on a busy thoroughfare well outside the historic city walls. The neighborhood is thriving an interesting if not quaint. There's a Starbucks right next door and an interesting restaurant nearby (Le Cercle), but it's an uphill (almost vertical) hike to serious Quebec food action. The staff was very cordial and welcoming but they were not capable of resolving or even understanding the problems with internet service. The passwords didn't work and the internet was unreachable either from your room or at the lobby desktop. The technical service number given for the guest rooms in fact could not be accessed except by hotel employees, and the hotel employees did not know how to access it. The hotel serves breakfast but when it came to the most interesting item of the buffet, local "cretons," the pan was empty. The hotel has a proud overall theme of environmental sustainability with decorative plant motifs in all the hallways and guest rooms, including a gift shop with fair traded jewelry and coffee though the coffee maker didn't seem to work. The employees were genuinely cordial and friendly but there was no visible management presence to recommend restaurants or resolve technical issues.

A bit too far from old city -- but excellent

Posted Nov 3, 2015
Cons: Curtains in room
Location: nothing nearby -- 15 minute walk to old town
Quiet, nice breakfast with plenty of delicious fruit and the best jams ever. Room was decorated with Peruvian art which delighted my Peruvian friend who accompanied me. No noise at all. Curtains were the only improvement needed. Well maintained and good atmosphere.
