Staff friendly and helpful but no air con in rooms

Posted Jan 9, 2018
Pros: Room facilities were good apart from lack of air con.
Cons: Air con.
Location: Close to town so could walk down easily.
Booked a lake view room - view of lake was very limited due to small window, and large tree outside. No air con in room meant very hot nights and we did not sleep well. Had signature lasagne dish for dinner one night and it was lukewarm and bland due to under seasoning. Staff were friendly and helpful but some clearly had issues with English as a second language. Car parking very expensive at $35 per night! Overall we would not stay here again.

Dear Rowan, Thank you for your feedback. I'm so sorry your room allocation marred your stay with us. I appreciate we've been experiencing a particularly warm summer and I sincerely apologise for the discomfort you've had from the heat in your room. While our air control units are not air conditioning, they usually are well suited to the weather in the mountains. I'm disappointed our popular signature dish fell below your expectations and I'll share your comments with our Executive Chef to ensure new members of our brigade are trained to our usual quality. Our parking fee includes valet service with bottled water daily and I can assure you our rates are very competitive with other 5* hotels alike in town – alternatively free self-parking is available on Brunswick Street. I'm so pleased you found our staff welcoming and I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to ensure your next stay is truly memorable for you. With warm regards, Marina Silva Operations Manager

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate we've had atypical hot days this summer and I'm so sorry this marred your stay with us. While our air temperature controls are not air conditioned, they’re usually well suited to the usual weather conditions in the mountains. Due to height restrictions of our car park we unfortunately are not able to accommodate vans and motorhomes. Alternatively self-parking is available on Brunswick Street, where the hotel is located. I'm pleased you enjoyed the hotel, and I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future. With warm regards, Marina Silva Operations Manager

Great hotel

Posted Dec 26, 2017
The hotel was amazing with sauna and a spa. The balcony was overlooking the lake which allowed us to enjoy some of the best sunrises and sunsets we've ever seen.

Perfect place for our honeymoon

Posted Dec 4, 2017
Pros: Location, ambiance was warm and welcoming, staff were accommodating, good view from restaurant, breakfast buffet, comfortable room and bed.
Cons: Clarification when booking on Expedia for room with "view" is actually a room with a garden view and not a lake view
Location: Restaurants, bars, shops, lake, gondola ride to the Skyline, water activities (e.g. jet boat ride, onsen hot pools)
The St. Mortiz was the perfect place for our honeymoon. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a suite with a kitchenette, living room, semi private garden. The room was modern, clean and even came with bath robes for use during our visit. The location is a short walk to the lakefront restaurants and bars. Also, the breakfast buffet was delicious and was the perfect start to our day! We will definitely stay at the St. Mortiz again next time in NZ.

Great honeymoon stay

Posted Dec 4, 2017
Pros: Location is close to downtown. Ambiance was warm and welcoming. The staff were very accommodating. Very comfortable bed.
Cons: Clarification on Expedia when the room booking indicates "view" that it means garden view and not the lake view.
Location: Everything is in walking distance including the lake, shops, restaurants and bars. The gondola is a short walk uphill.

Very nice room

Posted Nov 20, 2017
Pros: The room was super sweet!!
Cons: We were in a different place every two nights touring NZ. Every place is a little different. Have a little more patience with questions.
Location: Good location. Everything is 5-10 minute walk away.
The reception and lounge area are very nice. I can see this as a ski resort type lodge in the winter with all the comfy chairs around the fireplace. I had reserved a room with a king size bed and we had a whole suite. It was super nice. Super fancy with a tub. Good water pressure. Blow dryer. Iron and ironing board. They stock the refrigerator so full with the mini bar stuff you can barely put anything else in there. We had one of their famous Lombardi pizza's the first night and it was very good, small and expensive of course but the room service was efficient and very friendly. They park your car. There is limited parking on Brunswick street but they really want to please you with their service. We were on the 7th floor. The elevator only goes to the 6th floor and then you have to go up some stairs. The concierge will bring your stuff to your room and pick it up when you leave if you want them too. Also, our room did not have any view. So you might want to request that if it's important to you. They have a guest laundry with three washers and dryers. The dryers are $1 for 10'minutes but they will give you change and explain everything at the front desk. You do have a hill to walk up if you walk into town which is 5 minutes but it's not bad unless you are physically challenged in some way.

Outstanding

Posted Oct 15, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: Everything
Location: Short walk to everything.
Room was facing the lake with its own balcony. The view was awesome. The room had just been renovated and was flawless. Service was great and all staff very helpful. Bar and restaurant were great. I did read some not so good reviews about the views from some of the rooms and the price. If you book a room without a view, don't complain about the view. As for price, Queenstown is not cheap. If you want cheap, go somewhere else.
