Nice hotel at the top of the hill

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. We liked the layout of the main area with the restaurant, etc. I liked the lodge style room.
Cons: The hotel van could run more often, but there are alternate means of transportation, so that is not a big factor.
Location: A nice public beach. Another beach inside the very-nearby national park. Wildlife tours in the national park. Amelio's restaurant.
We greatly enjoyed the view from the main area at the top of the hill, overlooking the Pacific. We liked the curved pool, sunset at the sunset bar, and the restaurant. Our room was a lodge-style room a bit lower than the main area. Part of the view from our room was rainforest and part was ocean. They lined up an excellent rain forest nature excursion. The hotel van makes trips to the beach and back. If you do that excursion, ask for Roy as your tour guide.

Pros: The view, the breakfast and the location.
Cons: It would have been nice to get an introduction to the hotel, the area, the shuttle times, etc when we arrived.

Absolutely breathtaking view, the breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed it also with an amazing view. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. This hotel was in the perfect location, near Biesanz beach, the grocery store and liquor store, the bus staion (best way to National Park) and many great restaurants within walking distance.

Amazing View

Posted Aug 9, 2015
Amazing view from the restaurant. Breakfast was good. Our room (26) was clean and modern with a view of the ocean. The doors to the balcony and room were not built well enough, small bugs could get into the room from the bottom of the doors.

Gorgeous Views, Great for Beach & Adventure Lovers

Posted Aug 8, 2015
Pros: Amazing views, gorgeous infinity pool, delicious food, friendly staff, quiet
Cons: I wish there was an on-site convenience store for snacks and toiletries
Location: Manuel Antonio Park, with nature trail (go with a guide to see wildlife) and gorgeous beaches; Ziplining; Kayaking, whitewater Rafting, catamaran tour
I chose La Mariposa based on its reputation for amazing views and it did not disappoint. Our room (#58, a Premier Ocean View room) had a fabulous view and we spent a lot of time watching the birds, bats and monkeys about the property. The room was simple, but had everything we needed, including a fridge. The AC worked great and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was wonderful: helpful, polite, knowledgable about local attractions and everyone spoke English, which was great for my husband. All the tours we booked through the hotel had wonderful guides and were prompt and affordable. The restaurant is delicious and there is a pool bar that serves more casual fare for lunch and snacks. Breakfast was provided, a tasty buffet offering local foods as well as fruit, pastries and eggs to order. There is not an on-site store for snacks, sodas and amenities, but there is a convenience store down the road (3 minute walk). Although it is a bit secluded, it is not isolated and there is plenty to do nearby. The property is hilly, but that is typical in Quepos, and there is no smoking. In all, it is a beautiful property, ideal for honeymooners or those seeking peace and relaxation.

fantastic views from mariposa

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: Location and service
Cons: It was all fine for us
Location: Ideal location for the beach and lots of bars and restaurants nearby including Kapi Kapi and coffee bars. Also only few miles from the national park
This hotel is in an excellent location and the views from our room and the terraces of the beach are amazing. Highly recommend as a base to explore Emanuel Antonio. The reception staff were particularly helpful and there is secure parking in site. Highly recommend and will go back. Breakfast is lovely on the terrace and the restaurant is very good

Excellent view

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Staff very friendly. Spacious rooms. Good food. The view was my favorite thing about this hotel. Its not a resort hotel with a lot of activities. So, if you are looking to spend a lot of time at the hotel, this is probably not for you. Also, there are no elevators and the stairs hang off the outside of the building. Makes for an incredible view. But, be aware if you are extremely afraid of heights, this may be hard for you. There are other rooms without the adventurous stairs though.

A little bit of Paradise

Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: Everything, the complimentary breakfast was outstanding, it was perfect for children and adults, our group of 13 ranged in age fron 7 - 71.
Location: The Pacific beach and Manuel Antonio National Park were available to us by the hotel shuttle. Other Tours were also available.
This hotel was everything I expected and more. Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, beautiful pools, shuttle service to Manuel Antonio National Park. Very luxurious. The restaurant was a bit pricey for our large family.
