REMARKABLE!!!!

Posted Oct 31, 2017
Pros: EVERYTHING!!!
Location: NOTHING
Wow...what a find!! This boutique hotel surpassed all expectations. The room (small suite) was beautiful, the bedding exquisite, bathroom/shower wonderful. The staff was exceptional. My husband experienced the "Quito quickstep", but the staff came to our rescue with coca tea, sparkling water, and biscuits. We were treated like royalty. I cannot make enough positive remarks about our experience here. Oh, and DO NOT miss the beautiful gardens out back!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!

Pleasant Stay

Posted Sep 24, 2017
This is a lovely hotel. Lots of old world charm, handsome, well appointed suite, beautiful garden, adequate breakfast, nice high tea and the staff will do whatever to make your stay comfortable though their limited English prevents meaningful touring suggestions. Dinner in their restaurant was fine and helpful as this hotel is isolated, and a long ride from the Old Town. Don't expect to walk anywhere. Staff will call a private taxi service which will charge more than a street taxi. Challenge the fee.

French/American family traveling with 3 teenagers

Posted Aug 3, 2017
Cons: Most expensive hotel of our 5 week trip to South America and not worth it! If you are going to charge these prices the service needs to be impeccable.
I booked this hotel based on its ratings and reviews and we were very disappointed. The hotel staff, including the manager, were extremely rude and not accommodating. Upon check-in the manager told us that we had to pay more every night because of the third person, adding she did not know we were a family of 5 (I did find emails informing her about it months before our trip and her response did not mention any additional fees then). She was extremely unfriendly and refused to compromise during our 5 night stay. The price was already expensive but with the added non-negotiable fees we felt we had been taken advantage of and we overpaid. Additionally, the hotel is not in a central location, yet our bedroom faced the street and was noisy. It is in an unsafe neighborhood at night. We had to take a taxi to restaurants every night. The breakfast was mediocre.

Lovely Gem

Beautiful old grand dame of a hotel, easy to find and close to the historical district. Lovely breakfast and afternoon tea is included. We stayed in for dinner one rainy night and it was lovely too. Extremely helpful and friendly staff.

surprisingly quiet hotel in the city

Posted Apr 3, 2017
Pros: The beautiful garden, the peace and quiet.
Cons: The mattress and pillows could be softer.
Location: The basilica is within walking distance. Several restaurants are a short taxi ride away.
The taxi route we traveled from the airport to this hotel was frightening. We thought we were going to get car-jacked. But once we were buzzed in through the pedestrian gate, we found ourselves in a very quiet, small, fancy boutique hotel. The room was very small, but clean and recently updated. It included a TV and phone. The bed was very firm. The breakfast that was provided each morning was very good. It included several types of fruit, coffee, juice, eggs cooked to order, either bacon or ham, a few different types of bread and pastries. The hotel clerk was able to help us call for taxis and tour guides. The garden in the back is gorgeous. We enjoyed sitting in the garden and having some wine or beer. There is a very well behaved dog named Princessa that lives in the garden. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk to a hop on/hop off tour bus stop.

Wonderful hotel convenient to tourist area

Posted Mar 9, 2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Near to tourist (old) town center. Shopping and restaurants.
Classic building with amazing decor and art. Comfortable room with 4-poster bed. Modern bathroom. Great cuisine. We had breakfasts at the hotel and ate dinner in the hotel 2 nights. The dining room is decorated very nicely and has singing caged birds. Dinners were booked earlier in the day and prepared individually. Both the food and presentation were 4-star restaurant quality. Outside enclosed garden area is very beautiful with many flowers and seating areas. Hotel provided (free) afternoon high tea at 5pm. Would definitely stay there again and at other Equador hotels in the LHE group (4 hotels). Strongly recommended.

We have stayed in a range of hotels around the world. This is our all-time favorite. The room was extraordinary, the staff was excellent, the restaurant was very good, and the afternoon tea and garden were bonuses. Although the location is somewhat isolated, a $5 taxi ride will take you anywhere and you can walk to the most interesting part of town, the historical district.
