Decent hostel centrally located in Old Town

Posted Jan 19, 2017
Pleasant accommodations that were very safe and clean with free breakfast each morning and a safety deposit box in the room. But, there are no other amenities. Basic services otherwise (e.g. bring your own shampoo!) Front desk workers were fine especially Elba who had a great personality and whose English was very good!

Great hotel for the price. Service was excellent. Area outside the hotel is a bit sketchy, especially at night.

Be careful of local pickpockets

Posted Aug 1, 2016 on Hotels
This is my second stay at Mia Leticia. As with the first visit, the staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel has a lot of colonial charm. I did have a bad experience outside the hotel when a team of thieves harassed me and stole my iPhone while I was walking to a restaurant. So caution is necessary in the area.

We're so ashamed for your bad experience at the city, not all the people from Quito are bad, but in this city you need to be careful with your things because is a crowded old town, don't expose at all your cameras, phones and valuable items. We deeply regret the inconveniences that you passed.

Colonial charm

Posted Jul 30, 2016 on Hotels
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. I wanted something close to El Centro Historico and this looked like a good option. It exceeded my expectations. The place is loaded with colonial charm. It's just a short walk from the Grand Plaza. I'm staying there again on my return from the jungle.

Mia Leticia is in the perfect location!

Posted Apr 15, 2016 on Hotels
I loved my stay at the Mia Leticia. The location and the staff were the best! If you are looking for top-notch luxury, this may not be the place for you. If you are looking for a comfortable, charming, well-situated hostel, this is a fantastic option! The only minor complaint is that you can hear the noise from the street if you have a window that faces the street. I would imagine you would have that almost anywhere you stayed however. I would definitely stay here again!!

Thank you for your comment, it is true we are not a luxury guesthouse, but we try to serve the better way, we are improving the windows so there is no noise

Close to Plaza Grande in old town.

Pros: Central location. Good breakfast.
Cons: Rooms facing the street are noisy. Get a room at back or wait for better sound insulation that could come with new windows.
Also close to the Marin bus station which is good for 25 cent trips north of old town but beware of pickpockets.

Thank you for your comment, it is true outdoor room is noisy, we would like to improve this but the house is patrimonial and can not make strong changes

Conveniently located, attractive, hospitable staff

Posted Jan 22, 2016
Pros: See above
Cons: Nothing to add to the above
Location: See above... Easy access to all the major historic cente buildings and facilities on foot, with good security in the area.
Very good value, with outstanding staff who do everything possible to assist their guests; located with excellent access to buses, taxis etc and within easy walking distance of the historic centre of Quito; a colonial buiding with lots of charm; well-serviced, spacious rooms. Recommend highly!

PERFECT OLD CITY BUDGET STAY

Posted Dec 6, 2015 on Hotels
Sitting in the Centro Historico, the Old City of Quito this good sized hostal is in a very small plaza. Inside it has a pretty Spanish colonial inner courtyard. The room was cosy old fashioned with creaky wooden floorboards and in my case a full length window opened out onto a view of the tiny square. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom functional with a very hot shower. TV and free wifi but no A/C. This was a budget room after all. Great nights sleep. Nice staff and good location, right opposite Marin bus station for a very cheap trip to the Middle of the Earth attraction on the Equator. 5 minutes walk from the main Plaza. Only $4 to Plaza Foch. Loved my stay and the price.
