Expensive and Far From Airport
Posted Sep 19, 2016
We booked at Swissotel because its ad online said it had an airport shuttle. We later found out the shuttle cost $45 each way (though the trip to UIO does take 30-40minutes). Still, we took a regular taxi from UIO taxi kiosk to Swisshotel for $26 and we were offered the same taxi back for $20.
This is a decent hotel in downtown Quito with beautiful views of mountains and volcano. It is, however, overpriced. Breakfast was $26 per person, which we did not partake of because we'd spent three weeks in Cuenca, Ecuador and ate fabulous breakfasts for $2-5 every day.
Overall, we were not very impressed with Swissotel. Most of the staff were very helpful and spoke a good deal of English. But, we did ask one woman at the front desk to call a cab for us (the $20 return one) and she wouldn't make the call. Besides the exorbitant price of everything, the only other complaint we had was that the carpet in our room was dirty and stained.
We would not recommend this hotel.
