Won't Stay Again

As others have said, the hotel is undergoing massive renovations. There is construction going on every day from 9 to 5, and as the front desk informs you at check-in, on a level of 1 - 10, the noise is a 10. The pool and hot tub are closed because of the construction.
They make you sign a waiver at check-in that you will not have any parties in your room, and if you do, you will pay a $300 fee. My husband and I were having a romantic getaway this weekend and had the misfortune of staying at this hotel when there was a large family reunion going on. Our room was apparently right in the middle of all of them. The clerk knew we were celebrating our anniversary (there are no complimentary upgrades, by the way) and so I'm not sure why he wouldn't have given us a room somewhere else to start with. Of course, we didn't know that until we complained the next day about all the noise that went on until the early hours of the morning and were told why. The clerk was friendly but his exact words were, "It's just one of those things." The biggest complaint I have about this hotel is that we could hear EVERYTHING that was going on in the rooms around us, beside us as well as above us.
Pros: the breakfast is delicious and the cocktail hour is great. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the staff was friendly. The location was exactly what we wanted.
Unfortunately, the other factors that we experienced outweighed the positive, and we will not stay here again.
