So we had the bad fortune of flying into Cary for a wedding during Hurricane Matthew and while it's not the hotel's fault they lost power for over 24 hours, how they reacted leaves much to be desired. By and large, the staff on duty during that time was great. But the roof leaked which ended up making the pool off-limits, obviously there was no hot water, perishable food in the mini-fridges spoiled, the bathroom ran out of TP and to the extent that this was predicted, there were no flashlights or lanterns for emergency lighting.
After all of this, when the power did come back on, there was no attempt to make up for what I paid for and didn't get. I wouldn't expect the stay to be free, but even when I asked about being comped for breakfast, that couldn't be worked out. A little extra effort on behalf of the Hilton would've made this a much more positive review.
