Nice Hotel DowntownPosted Mar 2, 2018
My wife and I go downtown on “date night” every couple of months. We stay either at the Reaidence Inn or Marriott City Center. Here’s the scoop: the rooms are nicer at Residence Inn, but the common area, bar, and restaurant are better at Marriott City Center. I know, I know, the Residence Inn has a rooftop bar and the view is great. However, the staff that run the rooftop are stuck up, to be honest. they made us switch seats once, told us we couldn’t wear shorts, and told us we couldn’t wear flip-flops...all at separate times AFTER they let us in. So, we won’t be back there. Marriott City Center is our “go to” now.

Nice clean hotel in downtown close to everything. Right next to the convention center. Friendly hotel staff and super quick check in

Convenient when working the convention centerPosted Feb 5, 2018
Seems a little pricey at $225 + taxes a night, but that's the price you pay for being 60 seconds from the convention center.

Almost a terrible experience.Posted Jan 2, 2018
I booked a two-bed room for NYE very early in advance as we were going to have 4 people staying. When I arrived earlier than check-in, I was told I could only get a room with 1 king size bed. I explained that that is not what I reserved and would not work for our group. They eventually said I "lucked up" and one became available. This was very unexpected and unnerving. And the $408 bill for one night is ridiculous.

Spacious & CleanPosted Dec 17, 2017 on Hotels
Our room was quite spacious, clean and very comfortable. The restaurant has a nice selection to choose from and it was delicious. I'd stay here again.

Terrible Stay at The Raleigh Marriott City CenterPosted Nov 16, 2017 on Hotels
I had booked a king room well in advance for my business trip. When I checked-in at 6:30pm on Monday night (Nov. 13th), the front-desk employee told me I had the “hospitality suite” and then tried to upgrade me because I think he knew it wasn’t a great room, but the hotel was already full. Then he tried to keep selling me on the “Raleigh hospitality suite,” explaining how spacious the room is, and how the bed pulls out of the couch. I was not happy about it, but the employee left me no other choice. When I got to my room, it looked like a conference room. There was a huge dining room table, lots of chairs, and in the middle was my pull out spring mattress from the couch. The mattress nearly collapsed when I sat on it; it was also a double sized mattress (NOT A KING SIZED BED). I paid nearly $400 a night for a tiny pull out mattress in the middle of a conference room. Both mornings I woke up with bad back pain as a result of the mattress. I am very confused as to why a hotel would ever give this room to a customer. When I went back to the front desk to try and change rooms, I was given no other option but to stay in that room; the employee told me he would notify me the next day to try and get me a new room, but there was no “guarantee.” I was never contacted for the new room that I requested. I was also not granted any discount or refund as a result of my terrible stay. I have never had this happen to me at a Marriott hotel before, but I am not happy.
Disgusted with MarriottPosted Nov 14, 2017 on Hotels
I had booked a room online through Hotels.com on 9/29/17 for a King bed room at one of your properties (Raleigh Marriott City Center) …Figured it was a nice hotel considering its downtown, and has a 4.3 rating as well as it was $320 a night! So I checked in at 6:30 pm on Monday, and I already knew the hotel was sold out since my coworkers had tried to book here a month ago and it was booked. The gentleman checked me in and verbatim this was his “sales pitch” – “So we have you in our Hospitality Suite, it’s like a mini apartment, very spacious and nice! There is a pull out couch but we can get you a mattress in our storage room if you would like”. I will comp our wifi as well for you”! I literally was blown away and thought wait what? Did I hear a pull out couch mattress? So after the whole check in procedure took place, I headed up to room 323 and what I walked in to.. I wouldn’t even think it’s OK to have these as an option!! I took videos of what the room looked like (there is NO BED) and will pass the word around as well. For that much money a night, I was shocked that you think it’s acceptable to rent this out! PERIOD! After much thought.. I figure this is not ok, so I went downstairs to let the gentleman know how disappointed I was with the room and he kept laughing (because I am sure this isn’t the first time he heard this) and he proceeded to tell me that there was a bunch of rooms available tomorrow but can’t guarantee they can switch room?! What???
