Do they even clean the rooms?

We were in town for my toddler son's surgery and couldnt get a room at the Ronald McDonald house like we normally do. We selected this hotel because it was inexpensive and convenient to the hospital. Staff was very friendly at check in. When we got to the elevator, the stench was overpowering to the point where we decided to take the stairs for the rest of our stay. We got to our room and it had a similiar smell to the elevator only not as strong. We took off our shoes and by the end of the evening our socks had turned black from walking around in the room. Bathroom was very small and when sitting on the toilet, we were face to facewith a booger someone had scraped on the wall, as well as an unidentified fluid stain that was on the wall next to it. There was gum jammed in the peephole and the blankets were fairly heavily stained. I understand that the hotel was cheap and I dont expect a 5 star experience, but when you dont want to take off your shoes and have to sleep on top of a blanket you brought from home, there is something majorly wrong.
