Lobby was OK - a bit dated. Room was small and dated; it has been redone but not updated. The shower drain worked. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom but there was a window to compensate. Room was reasonably quiet. There were enough outlets for recharging. Breakfast was OK.

centrally locatedPosted Sep 26, 2015
Location: Close to Custer State park, Mt. Rushmore and the Black Hills
good starting point for visiting the Black Hills. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Room was clean and quiet, good choice for continental breakfast. Access to motel a little difficult because of road construction in front of facility(not the motel's fault). Good value for the money.

Very old exterior, updated interiorPosted Sep 15, 2015
The mgr told me the hotel was built in 1963. It is definitely a motel. Exterior doors, interior has been renovated. Nice TV, bathroom is very small. Overall good value in a place that had much more expensive alternatives.

Nice HotelPosted Sep 13, 2015
Pros: It was close to the Blackhills & Mt. Rushmore
Cons: Have the back side of the building lit up alittle better close to the woods and ridge.
Location: Mt. Rushmore, Blackhills, Badlands, Colonial Hills Resturant, Perkins and Sonic are all close by.
We were on our way to Montana from Tennessee and stayed here. It was suppose to be for only one night, but it was such a nice place we stayed a 2nd night to. When we first got there and unloaded the car, we heard a mountain lion roar. We found out they are on the top ridge of the back section, but don't come down from there. There is nothing to be scared of though lol. There's a Perkins & Sonic within walking distance of the hotel. There's also a family owned & operated restaurant called Colonial House right in the parking lot that is a MUST EAT AT place. If you go there, ask for Janice for your server. She was born and raised in the area and can tell you all the does and don'ts of the area. Everyone that we ran into were extremely friendly. Mt. Rushmore & The Blackhills are not that far from the hotel. When traveling to the hotel, go by the Badlands as they are breath taking.

Good for what it is - a motel in a touristy area.Posted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Good rates, walkable to lots of restaurants and grocery store, close to the old-town square, very close to Mt. Rusmore and other attractions.
Cons: Haphazard room turnovers - beds not made, carpet not vacuumed. But this may be par for the course for motels. If so, I cant hold it against Travelodge
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. The rates were very reasonable over the holiday weekend. We checked in late, but the lobby staff member was helpful and courteous. We didn't get the bed that we requested (1 king size) but we figured that was understandable since we were checking in so late. When we walked into the room for the first time (and every time thereafter), it had a distinct smell...I'd describe it as slightly damp but also soapy. My guess it was from the AC unit? I wouldn't say the smell was off-putting at all; it was strong enough to be noticeable, not not enough to where we would have to switch rooms. We got used to the smell after a few minutes anyways. Other than that, we didn't spend too much time in the hotel besides to wind down and go to sleep after long days of sightseeing. We didn't take advantage of the amenities (pool) so I can't comment on that. We ate at the continental breakfast on our way out and that was fine.

Clean and comfortablePosted Aug 27, 2015 on Hotels
Overall I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and it is very conveniently located. I knocked the service a little bit because the woman working the front desk when I checked in was pretty rude, but all of the other staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful.
