Homely atmospherePosted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Friendly hosts, and cleanliness.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at The Cook's Oasis. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful - Eric even ran us down to the local church!. Beach equipment was available, and an excellent library of books, DVD's and puzzles to fill in the time on a rainy indoors day.

Nice self catering apartments close to beachPosted Apr 13, 2015
Location: We ate at Kikau hut next door, and Sunset Resort the other side. Bought wine at liquor store opposite.
At first sight we were very pleased with the standard of decor and all the facilities included - complimentary continental breakfast for your first morning, small dipping pool, library of books and DVDs to borrow plus TV and DVD player in room, free kayaks, beach chairs, snorkels and reef shoes, spotlessly clean, extremely helpful staff. Only downsides were our upstairs room had no shade so was very hot in the afternoons, not all the windows had mozzie screens on them and as avid snorkellers, the lagoon here was disappointing - too shallow and too close to the reef. If you hire transport it doesn't matter as you can easily get to the better beaches. Ask for a shadier room.

Pros: Free use of snorkelling gear and kayaks etc. Close to great restaurants and bars.
Cons: Maybe have aircon as part of the price rather than having to get it as an added extra
Fantastic owners, very friendly and helpful. Our studio unit was perfect for the two of us and provided the option of cooking for ourselves if we wanted with cooking tops, microwave and a decent sized fridge/freezer (also great for keeping the beers cold!) all in our room. There is no massive pool like you would find at the resorts but with the beautiful ocean just metres away and a nice cool off pool outside our room we were more than happy.

Excellent place to stay.Posted Feb 13, 2015
Loved the Oasis. The hosts treated us like family - we loved them. The villa was immaculate. Everything you need is there. The walk to the beach is only a few minutes. The beach is nice. The only reason we give an overall rating of less than the highest is because it is more remote than we usually choose (we usually choose places to stay that have more restaurants and shops within walking distance - there are some close by, just not as many as on the Muri lagoon side of the island). Excellent experience at the Oasis.

Tolle UnterkunftPosted Dec 16, 2014 on Hotels

Friendly, comfortable and good locationPosted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: Welcome, bed, quiet (apart from local dogs and roosters! not the hotels fault!!)
Cons: if they had a recipe for shutting up the dogs and roosters it would be great!
Location: close to beach, easy to get anywhere on island quickly via scooter, and great bus service available
Wasn't sure what to expect of anything as it was our first trip to Raro. Pricey trip to the hotel considering it was 3km from the airport, but still cheaper than the transfer offered by the hotel. A warm welcome and great facilities offered, breakfast for the first morning, free kayaks and snorkelling gear etc, as well as advice :-) Very comfortable stay at this time of year (the fan was enough to keep cool mostly, as air con is an expensive extra at $20/day) and the bed was very comfy. Good location, everything we needed close by, food, groceries, scooter hire etc. Would happily stay again.

A nice little gem almost right on the beach.Posted Nov 14, 2014
Pros: Proximity to great restaurants, markets, beach. Friendly helpful hosts.
Cons: At the prices offered you could not possibly expect more.
Location: Just 5 minutes from the Airport, 10 minutes from the main town and open air markets. Sixty metres from the main road, scooters for hire nearby.
Being met after midnight at the airport and being shown to your room is a great way to impress me. Lovely hosts in a family owned and run business, their attention to detail and comfort of all guests is an obvious priority. Requests were quickly and cheerfully handled by Roselle and Eric, always with a smile and a friendly chat. Self catering is a bonus with local fresh seafood available at giveaway prices from markets. The water is 60 metres away down a pretty walk between coconut palms on to a brilliant white beach with turquoise waters in the safe swimming lagoon. Perfect for a family with toddlers or older. I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to all. Free loan kayaks , reef shoes, DVD's, family room , BBQ, toddlers swimming pool, outside rinsing showers. Super comfy King Size bed in my apartment ( Unit 2 ). Going back at first opportunity.
