Rude people on checki-in but wonderful stay
Posted Jun 8, 2016 on Hotels
I checked in on a Tuesday night and no one came to the desk for 10 minutes. The guy tidying up around the place just looked at me but did not speak. Once someone finally came to the desk and apathetically checked me in, I was told the management reception was cancelled for the night. I jokingly responded that that is what I came for and the person became noticeably distant and rude. However, the receptionist I encountered on Thursday was very polite and made me feel welcome. I am an African-American male and my initial experience definitely made me think race was involved because the people I encountered were so rude and unfriendly and I constantly found the "tidy" up guy in lively conversations with those who looked liked him. However, the guy setting out breakfast was as friendly and polite as I have experienced at other hotels and the lady who checked me in on Thursday May 26th made me feel like an appreciated guest. Other than that, the room was perfect for a business trip and I stayed 3 comfortable nights. I had to go to N 5th St Hwy to find good places to eat but it was only a 10 minute drive away.
