I felt it was expensive for the standard of the room. We only saw one member of staff who was extremely pleasant, but all she did was book us in and tell us where to go for breakfast.

Week end Away.
Having Now Stayed At The George Hotel Several Times & Being an Ideal Location for the Events I attend It Gets Top Marks From Both Me & My Friends.

The property can do nothing about the railway noise and we knew this before we booked the room but the mattress on the bed was rubbish. You can feel every spring and we didn't get a good night sleep. The bed also sloped, with our feet higher than our head, making it uncomfortable all round.

Inconsistent standard of rooms
I am 6ft 4 and was placed in attic with sloping ceilings and beams kept hitting my head shower room and bathroom very poor, no head board on bed due to slop of roof so pillows kept falling down the back I have stayed here before and found it to be good value for monie but on this occasion it has made me question of I should look elsewhere

Friendly but unclean.
Great location and friendly staff but the rooms are tired, falling apart and not clean. Our 2 bed room has stains on the carpet, a cracked floor tile in the bathroom, stains on the walls. The rooms themselves are clearly very old like the building itself but there’s no sign of keeping them feeling charming and old fashioned but still clean and functional. If it were a budget price we had paid some of it could have been overlooked but for nearly £300 for 2 nights it was no where near good enough.

Horrendous - Avoid if you actually want to sleep!!
Absolutely horrendous - sleep deprivation torture! How on earth can they charge such extortionate rates (without breakfast)? There was no point in the curtains as they were tissue thin, and my room was next to the busy London railway line (a few metres away) – everytime a train went passed the room would vibrate and the trains were constant through the night. The room was small, cramped and dated. I can honestly say this is the worse place by miles I have ever had the misfortune to stay. Never again!!

The room we booked was a lovely size - triple room It was very comfortable -yes the furniture was a little dated but in keeping with the property type Everything very clean Plenty of tea and coffee provided Also the hotel provided towels and toiletries Will definitely stay again

Hotel was comfortable and clean. Food in the bar was very good and breakfast was excellent. Staff were very professional especially the young lady that served breakfast every morning.

Upon turning up we were told by the manager that expedia had not sent the reservation through (a recurring problem) and essentially shrugged us off saying we had to go away and sort it ourselves. An hour and a half of trying to sort it out through expedia's customer helpline we were assured it had been sorted and the hotel had been contacted. This was not the case and with the time we had left before having to leave, we were forced to pay for the hotel again at the front desk.

Booked through ebookers.com ( Expedia) hotel had no confirmation of booking had to pay again to get a room. Tried to contact bookers.com but you have to deal with bots and long delays to speak to agent. Same thing happened last week. Would use hotel again but not ebookers or expedia

Very old character pub with lodgings, stayed Sunday and Monday night, no breakfast available no food on Monday at all. Did supply shampoo but no soap or body wash.

Cheap and cheerful
It’s a cheap and cheerful, old hotel that’s in desperate need of a renovation. Showers might as well not be there, bed was so old it was all spring and everything creeked. But it did us for the night. Breakfast was ok, bit strange having to order the night before. Pub on the other hand was lovely, good choice of beers and a nice ambience. Overall, ok for a bed but not more

I arrived the hotel at 23:30 at night after travelling all day, to be told Expedia have been hacked and we don’t have a reservation which cost us £96. We then we’re offered a room by staff for £220! Which I had to loan out to pay for as we didn’t have that money. One or both is a con?!

Staff tried hard to make the stay enjoyable.
The hotel was short of staff, so they were run off their feet Good good, but bar closed early preventing a drink when we returned from nearby concert
