Beautiful location secluded from Puntai Cenang

Posted Jul 12, 2016
Pros: Its located on its own island and is beautiful with a lot of greenery and beautiful view of the water. The service is very good & staff speaks english
Cons: Taxi from airport costs RM10/USD2.50 and shuttle service from the hotel costs RM15 per person. They should provide free service or same as local taxi
Location: A local live band plays from 7-11:30pm & they are very sweet & fun. Water sports are available for a cost & definitely more expensive than main island
Access: It's 10 mins from Puntai Cenang which is the main beach strip near the hotel. However, the hotel is accessible only by boat and the last ferry leaves the main island by 7:30 pm so you have no choice but to go back to the hotel at that time. Cabs from Puntai Cenang to the Taj Vivanta ferry cost RM 12 (approx USD 3). The ferry to Taj Vivanta is of 10 mins duration and departs every 45 mins-1 hour Food: The food is expensive at the hotel as compared to food available at restaurants and hawker stalls in Puntai Cenang. For eg. At the hotel 1 green curry with rice, 1 tom yum soup and 6 chicken skewers cost us RM180 (USD 45) and this was good for 2 people sharing. On the other hand we ate 2 chichen shwarma's on the main island for RM 24 (USD 6).The breakfast (is included) is excellent and is huge spread which lasts from 7-1030 am. Drinks: Drinks are generally very cheap in Langkawi as its duly free on the island. You can buy a can of Chang / Tiger beer for RM2 (50 cents) and most restaurants (which are not Malay) will allow you to drink your own beer if they don't serve it. However, the same can of beer at the Taj Vivanta would cost RM18 (USD 4.50). The hotel has a happy hour from 6-8pm and 10-11pm where drinks are half price and you can get a glass of wine (good red wine) for RM 10 (USD 2.50) and beer for RM 7 (USD 1.75)

Disappointed with lack of service

Posted Jul 10, 2016
The bathroom lock was broken. The extra bed wasn't arranged for unless told 3 times. Any other service was painstakingly slow Activities were all closed by 5 pm even though checkin times are around 3 pm. The beach isn't great at all compared to the mainland beaches.

Incredible staff and perfect for family vacation!!

Posted Jul 8, 2016
To start off - the staff know exactly what each of us wanted from the food , wine selection and service which was splendid. The location of the hotel along with the convenience of plenty of activities kept us enjoyig the resort through out. Its ideal for a laid back vacation with family who enjoys being by the beach. The rooms arent the greatest including the suit room but the staff and other amenities make up for it. Thank you guys for a great stay.

Nice Old Resort and reasonably well maintained.

Posted Jun 27, 2016
Pros: Not too crowded.
Cons: The biggest problem is that the island is infested with mosquitoes. It is unbearable to sit and relax any where outdoors.
Nice place if you just want to spend a couple of days relaxing. Not so convenient if you are the exploring kind.Need boat ride to and from island which is convenient and not too at the same time. Staff are all friendly and responsive to your needs when required. Food taste and cost is average. Rooms are spacious.

Good place only for Honeymoon travellers....

Posted Apr 28, 2016 on Hotels
I have planned 3 nights stay at this hotel, check in process convenient, room was comfortable, i would recommend the place for honeymoon travellers as it was very calm and nice place to spend time together I would not recommend this place to any body who wants to see the places outside the resort as it is very inconvenient to go out due to dependency on ferry transfers which are planned with very odd timings specially in the evening( i had to wait for the ferry every day for more then 1 hr every day as after 6:30 PM next ferry was at 7:45PM which was the last)

Helpful staff, Spacious rooms

Posted Apr 28, 2016
Pros: * Hotel managed the logistics from airport and back * Specific food needs for our group addressed * Size of rooms
Cons: * General upgrade to the infra needed
* Check-in was great. We (Party of 19 ppl aged between 3 and 70) have not requested for a pickup from the Airport in advance but they were kind enough to oblige. * Rooms were spacious and clean. Facility itself was spread out and hence was relatively quiet. However, the facility as such looks a bit run down. In fact there are some abandoned buildings in the island. * Good choice of Indian and Malay food. There is also a bunch from the continental cuisine. The Senari restaurant could have better Air conditioning. Breakfast had a wide spread and the restaurant was busy in the mornings. The bars (two on the beach side) were busy in the evenings extending to the night. * Staff are their highlight. Most were helpful and very hands on.
