Comfortable stay with friendly staff

We had a good stay here. The beds were comfy and the staff were friendly. The only issues are that the all the lights were flickering a lot when first turned on, and also had trouble with plugging in my phone at night since the lamp with a plug integrated on the nightstand apparently deactivated the power to the plug when the lamp is turned off. Dumb design. Glad I realized it before I went to sleep. The grab n go breakfast was just what we needed with herbal tea, coffee, muffins, and yogurt. All in all a good stay.

Do NOT recommend!!

Would not stay here ever again!!! The bathroom fan would screech when in use. Our bathroom supplies (shampoo, soap, etc) were never restocked. There was not a microwave in our room, so went to use the one in the continental breakfast area. It was filthy and did not work either. There was instant oatmeal and yoghurt in the continental breakfast but no bowls or spoons to eat it with (and this was at 6:30am, so should have still been fully stocked). The coffee was also empty. When we went to use the pool facilities, the pool and hot tub were dirty with foaming brown bubbles. There was also a pool light that was placed up on the pool deck but still connected with wires into the socket inside the pool and were told by the hotel staff to just stay away from that area of the pool. We ended up going to the local city pool that we had to pay for to use their pool instead as we weren’t sure how safe the hotel pool was. After 11pm at night, there were kids playing football in the hallways and other guests congregating in the hallways making lots of noise until 3am. When notifying the front desk, they said they could hear it too, but did nothing to stop it. This happened 2 out of our 3 night stay. We will definitely be telling our friends and family to NEVER stay at a Sandman Hotel ever again!!!

Nice hotel

Although we did not spend an overly long period of time at the hotel or in the rooms for that matter, the hotel was nice, staff were very friendly and beds were pretty comfortable. Would stay here again.

Great location

Great location, easy access to everything. Could use a bar fridge and microwave though. Friendly front desk agent.

Last Minute Stay

We needed a quick, last massage nite check in for a family emergency. The Sandman was conveniently located. The staff were friendly. Rooms was clean. The only thing missing was a small fridge in the room. It’s also very convenient to be able to walk through the hotel to get to the Moxies restaurant.

Fine hotel, poor registration

Booked the hotel on expedia a week before my stay. On check-in the hotel said our reservation wasnt booked. I flashed my confirmation and they had to "make arrangements" to facilitate my stay that was already paid for! The room was fine, and i was happy with my stay, but the b.s. at check in left a bad taste in my mouth.

Clean hotel

Pros: That there was fruit, coffee, muffins, yogourt, tea, and porridge all available for a quick bite to eat before heading out. Very nice touch!
Cons: Just move those smoking rooms to the same floor
Location: Lots of things to do near by. I have not been to Red Deer in a while and was pleasantly surprised with all the new stores and shops and dining places.
The only concern I have is that there must have been smoking rooms on the same floor and when you opened our door or went into the hallway to get to the elevator, all you could smell was the AWEFUL smell of cigarette smoke. Maybe move the smoking rooms all to the same floor to prevent others from having to smell that gawd awful smell. Other than that, great hotel for the price.
