Quirky characterful hotel. Bar and restaurant nicely refurbished but bedrooms need some work. Staff lovely and helpful.

Booked here as convenient for going to a party

Posted Jul 6, 2017
I didn't have from arrival to get ready for a party. I was put on room number 1 (twin) - room looked nothing like on their website. Paint and wallpaper so tired, both beds had torn valances probably because they were too long, light above the bathroom mirror did not work, tiny shower, I asked the receptionist to come and show me how to get the sash window open behind secondary glazing - full of cobwebs inbetween, there was a notice in the wardrobe on how to operate the safe but there wasn't a safe! Thankfully the room did appear to be clean with fresh bed linen and towels. The kettle, tea and coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. The friendliness of the staff and a good cooked breakfast were the only redeeming features after parting with £70 for the privilege. Definitely would not recommend - they need to redecorate and fast!

Very friendly hotel in pretty village.

Cons: It felt like we were on holiday.
Location: The hotel is set in a lovely village and walks with (or without) the dog are a must, especially around the church.
It would be hard to find a friendlier hotel. This is a lovely old inn with timbered ceilings etc. The full English breakfast is beautifully cooked and big.

Photos deceptive. Don't go!

Posted Jun 4, 2017 on Hotels
We booked 3 rooms, none of which were clean. My room was one of the noisiest I have stayed in with the water system banging all night long. This was room 2. The place needs a thorough overhaul in general. we were disgusted how dirty and tatty the rooms were with cobwebs and peeling wallpaper. Breakfast was good which was a relief but we will not be booking there again.

Nice pub accommodation

Welcoming helpful staff and a great breakfast. Room was a little cold and bathroom was ok but the hot water seems to come in waves. Overall a great stay for the price.

Photos can be deceiving

Looked forward to staying, however no heating on arrival(another guest complaining as we arrived?,bathroom radiator propped up by wall not on it....plugs scarce, not very clean, asked for another plug in radiator as ours didn't see to work...probably due to the dirt on it..only works if put on s surface? Bed creaked just by sitting on it....did ask to change rooms...told fully booked however we could move to 2 single rooms.......instesd of our double...jokes! Wouldn't stay there again but breakfast was very nice, all staff friendly. Note to manager; With 2 wall ashtrays right next to rear door.....could you not ask smokers to actually put their butts in them.....looked unsightly to see soo many on the ground...... And that door should be shut as smell wafted into pub and lingered......And I smoke though have consideration! Very tired accomodation,
