The breakfast was amazing, many great options, everything delicious and fresh. It's right on the beach, there's plenty of space on the sun beds, the pool is really good as well.The beach is superb, warm water, and can you go snorkelling right from the beggining of the beach.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. I was not fond of all the feral cats. Feral cats although cute are a big problem for endemic species especially on a small island.

The best place in Reunion Island
The hotel is one of the best in Reunion, I would definitely refer more people to stay there. Location is perfect, the entire atmosphere is fantastic.

hotel isn't true 5 star, lobby is nice but rooms are very minimal. Not much more than a bed, tv and chair. bathroom is tiny; its impossible not to flood the bathroom because of open shower/tub.

The location of the property and general resort amenities are good, but the resort is not a 5 star standard. Probably a 4 star at best. Rooms are small and in-room amenities are limited. Room servicing and maintenance also not up to 5 star standards and needs management attention.

Nice location on the beach with a great concierge service. However it is sorely let down by terrible service in the rest of the resort and small rooms that are in desperate need of refurbishment. Neither the service or rooms approach 5* level and some serious improvement is needed.

The hotel itself is beautiful and situated on the beach which was great. The room is nice enough with a tiny bathroom. The sink consumed the counter. The bathroom amenities are lovely. The food is great. The wifi is horrible in the rooms. The service is just off but the night manager is outstanding and I wish I remembered his name. When my driver didn't show up at 4 am to take me to the airport, he was completely on top of it. The hotel hosted a company event while I was there. It consumed the bar area and then took over the beach restaurant. I felt like an outsider despite paying top dollar. That is ridiculous and unacceptable. That said, the hotel is a great value for the accommodation and I recommend it.

Don't expect a 5-star service
Hotel is a little in need of refurbishment. Room was decent, though the first room we were allocated was right at a far end of the resort which didn't make sense when there were empty rooms closer to the main building. Wifi was not working in our room and when we called to address this issue at 3pm, we were told we had to wait till the next day for someone to attend to it as there was no one working on a sunday. This was not acceptable services for a five-star hotel, and we raised our displeasure and asleep for a room change. Only then were we given a new room much closer to the main building with fully functional wifi. Apart from the above, this is a pretty normal hotel and I didn't feel we received any exceptional service being in a 5-star hotel. In fact, I felt I got better service in my stays elsewhere on Reunion Island where the hotel rating is below 5-stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. As it is winter there were no difficulties finding a lounger by the pool or a seat in a restaurant. The only down side was the small bathroom with shower over the bath arrangement - never did work out how to have a shower without the floor becoming wet & slippery. The food was excellent and the music provided by local musicians created a lovely atmosphere. The concierge desk were very helpful in arranging tours and airport transfers. There is a supermarket nearby and access to an ATM was a short tuk tuk ride away

This hotel is in a great location by the beach, and offers amenities including renting bikes for rides along the sea. But the staff was pretty lame, and the room was in disrepair - in our room the showerhead was falling apart, shelves were barely connected to the walls, and a big dangerous hole in the patio deck could have caused injury. Consdering hi price, not acceptable!

Great hotel with friendly staff - with 3 restaurants and a bar you can't go wrong. Would highly recommend this as somewhere to stay however, the bar staff unwilling to serve and food so ended up ordering room service to the bar.

Really enjoyed my stay at Lux*. Multiple eating options, beautiful grounds and great service. The only issue I had was reserving a room for dinner on Saturday night. It wasn't clear if I they were truly booked or simply denying me a reservation because I was a party of one. Nevertheless, I had to order in room service that night, but the did not charge me the 9Euro tray charge. Also, you will save money arranging your airport transfer through the hotel and not using standard taxis. I paid 100 Euros for the taxi. It was only 80 through the hotel. And I was told that some people were charged as much as 300 euros for taxi service.

Comfortable hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Good base to explore the island. Food not up to the 5 star rating. Room service food not as the menu description, beach restaurant food tough uninspired fish. Buffet good, but standard hotel fare. I expect better cuisine from a 5 star French hotel.

Okay, did not exceed expectations for price
La Réunion itself is very much French, so don't be surprised by smoking everywhere- including the restaurants. The architecture if Lux Réunion is beautiful and the welcoming drink is refreshing. The personal list of questions was a bit invasive, but I suppose if you don't want to give your Anniversary date or email address, you can get away with it. A natural reef protects the beach making for a nice ocean swim. Lovely big tiled pool surrounded by "rock" formations. Service from the pool bar and beach bar was great - there if you wanted them, otherwise invisible. There is a special "hut" that hands out towels and rec equipment, though my husband found the snorkel and fins a bit inadequate (we are divers, so poor fitting equipment is as bad as no equipment). They had a lovely welcoming reception with samosas , champagne, sorbet cones and punch ( w or w/out rum ) - very nice touch. We met the lovely Marie-Lucie (phenomenal employee ). If you like a hard bed , this hotel is for you - "sleep right " bamboo structured beds, but I turned over a lot in the night and did not sleep well. Overall, it was an okay, expensive hotel (up about 12 stairs to half the rooms) but bathrooms need refurbishing (showers spill out to the floor, toilet roll on same side as where door turns in, NO bathroom fan) and (actually very nice, upscale essential oil) toiletries are NOT replaced daily, however ground coffee and comp. bottle of water are. Nice spontaneous, whimsical touches of a hidden message in a bottle (we didn't find), yoga (teacher was GREAT), gym (good ), "phone home" for free concept was great- if only the phone lines worked when we tried (broken ). Generally though, it was relaxing and fine EXCEPT the unbelievable housekeeping attendants who literally and ROUTINELY knocked very quickly, then barged in (four separate times) DESPITE the sign on the outside door handle indicating "Do Not Disturb!" That completely blew us away for a so called five star, charging ~ $400 a night and frankly, it blew their tip. This is a former Club Med that has been greatly spruced up. Their marketing brochures and videos are great. We would have used LUX again in Mauritius, but I am used to a Tempurpedic, not a bamboo mattress, so we chose an alternate (Baystone ).

Top notch luxury resort @ heavenly lagoon
There is just useless to spend your time in any other place when visiting Reunion Island. LUX* Ile de la Reunion is simply everything you deserve from luxury 5* resort.

Grand Hotel du Lagon, Reunion-lovely but isolated
The Grand Hotel du Lagon is lovely but not actually in St. Giles. Rather it is a couple of kilometers south and a bit isolated if you want to try other restaurants and haven't hired a car. The service is variable being excellent at front reception but sometimes a bit poor elsewhere. Abit more staff training needed. Nevertheless, quite a lovely hotel.

Cet hôtel a la plus belle plage de l’île. Par contre tout le reste est malheureusement navrant. Sauf les équipes de restauration qui se donnent un maximum pour vous satisfaire. Si vous cherchez un service digne d’un établissement 5 étoiles n’y allez pas. Personne durant votre séjour ne vous demande si tout se passe bien et encore moins au départ de l’hôtel. Le directeur passe devant vous et ne vous calcul même pas On se demande comment cet hôtel a t il où avoir 5 étoiles…
