Perfect location with a parking spot
Private parking was great. Plenty of clean towels. Bring your own shampoo. It's perfect for 4-5 adults. Kitchen very useful in a city with very expensive restaurants.

Good location, bad for early arrival
Nice apartments in a good location but if your flight gets in early you have to store your luggage at another hotel about 6 blocks from the apartments and then find a way to get them to your apartments later in the day. It is walkable on a nice day (and these are not overly common), but lots of uneven sidewalks. Not ideal for families unless you want to book more than one room. Comfortable and clean though.

Great location and worth the price.
Quiet, safe, clean, great location. Some noise from other apartments (people moving around, doors closing) but overall very quiet. Close walk to downtown and attractions.

Great Central Location to Discover Rejkavik
Nice, modern 1- bedroom apartment close to the center of Reykjavik with Scandinavian charm. Has all the amenities needed for a family of 4 for several days.

Great location, home away from home
Very quiet location, we slept well. We felt safe and secure. I booked this months in advance. I e-mailed ahead to get details of the stay, and they would respond within 1 to two days. A few days before you arrive, they send by email the details of how to get the keys and how to check out. If you plan to rent a car, non-paid parking is not guaranteed, however the street did always have spaces available, but you would likely need to pay. The location itself did not make it necessary for us to rent a car. We stayed for 8 nights. We made this our home base to take bus tours to the far reaches of Iceland. Taxis are a bit pricey, but good service. The apartment was very clean, we had microwave,small fridge with small freezer compartment, oven, hot plates, cutlery, plates, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, hair dryer, towels, Satellite TV and very good internet connection. Internet was good and fast and always up. I would stay there again. The cost, while pricey is comparable to all other prices.

Decent apartment, close to Reykjavik main square
Decent apartment to stay for a week in Reykjavik. The apartment is practically on the main street in the city, and is a block away from all restaurants and bars. The main street (Laugavegur) sees a lot of tourism, the neighborhood is fairly safe. Parking is on the street and is paid depending on the timing. We did not have much trouble finding parking.

Very disappointed.
Advertised as comfortable for 4 persons. With luggage we could not move. Did not receive the e-mail telling us how to get in, etc. Must have been sent after we already left US and went to spam. When we finally figured out how to get the key it was listed as #4 apartment but key opened #2. Still not certain we were in the right place. Overall dirty with dead spiders. Too dusty underneath beds to store suitcases. Luckily we were there on weekend so parking turned out ok, but if we were there on weekday would have been quite tricky. Should have been told about this ahead of time. Loved the country and the city and once we got used to the situation and since we were not in the apartment all that much it was doable but by far the worse accommodations we had in Iceland in a 9 day trip.

Centrally located and immaculate!
Basically a small two room efficiency apartment (as we would say in the US). Centrally located. Easy walk to main shopping streets and Reykjavik sites. No staff on site but received emails with good instructions on how to find our key and let ourselves in. The apartment also had a binder of all the useful information you could want. Free wifi and satellite tv. While channel surfing we ran across three adult chat channels featuring naked women so parents be vigilant. Probably a great vacation memory for our teenage son. Bed in main bedroom (two twins pushed together) was super comfortable and the second bed in the kitchen/dining room/main room was a futon that was fairly comfortable. Plenty of bedding and towels supplied. Apartment was very clean. Both of the two major tour bus companies and airport shuttle do pickups and drop offs here. It's a small place (we had apt #4) but for sleeping and showering it was just fine. Separate laundry room on site. Can be a little noisy when other guests come and go in the middle of the night but Reykjavik in the summer is known for early and late arrivals due to the flight schedules so you make due. We would stay here again.

Combined business and vacation. Not inexpensive but nothing in Iceland is inexpensive for Americans. Nice quiet residential neighborhood just two blocks of the main shopping street. Excellent location for tourists: an easy walk to all the tourist activities in the historic downtown Reykjavik area. Full service kitchen. Supermarket is 2 blocks away. Excellent blackout drapes to keep out midnight sunlight in the summer. Free use of washer and dryer. Airport shuttles drop off/pick up directly to address.

Close to everything in Reyjavik
Loved our stay at Grettisborg apartments. We only had one problem in our stay and that was a broken washing machine but the owners replaced it within 1/2 hour of me contacting them. Nothing was too much trouble. the room was excellent. Only one complaint, i hated the shower setup in our apartment - cannot say if they are all the same. 2 shower heads but one was broken and wouldnt stay in position and bathroom was tiny. But overall a nice place and very comfortable beds.

Brilliant location
Good communication with welcoming email a few days before arrival. A little confusing about how to get into the apartment initially but sorted quickly after a phone call. Excellent facilities, unexpectedly well equipped kitchen - could've baked a cake there if the whim had taken us...

Clean conveniently located apartment
Apartment was spotless, we didn't see anyone who worked there during our stay but had no issues communicating with them via email as we arrived later than we had expected. They were great to allow us to store our luggage on checkout in the laundry room so that we could shop a bit before leaving. One issue was all day drilling and construction at a building next door. Of course, this isn't their fault but if you plan to sleep past 8am forget it! It wasn't an issue for us since we had a tour booked for 9 the first day then were up with the drill because we needed to check out day two!

Overnight stay in Reykjavik
Our family stayed overnight in the Grettisborg Apartments Reykjavik. We received excellent detailed communications ahead of our arrival directly from the owner. The rooms are very comfortable with everything a family would need. Excellent location if you want to explore Reykjavik. Highly recommended!

Good location but building noise spoilt our holida
Very noisy building work on the attached property that continued throughput the Easter holiday weekend. Despite complaining to the owners the noise and work continued. It certainly affected our holiday and if we'd have been informed we would have made other arrangements.

Great apartment in Fantastic Location
Due to overbooking, we were upgraded to a private house. It was very nice! Everything we needed in the kitchen as well as a washer/dryer in the basement. My only complaint is that we had to switch from the house to an apartment for the last night of our trip, and that meant completely packing all of our bags to move. It put a big damper in our plans for the last full day of our trip, and it was a hassle with small children in tow. Plus, we were given a room downgrade from what we originally paid for, but sucked it up due to the original upgrade.

Nice little apartment in the centre of Reykjavik
We arrived when there had been a snow storm so the road was full of snow and we were coming from hot Southeast Asia. We were helped by other residents to get inside the laundry room to get our keys as it was not easy to open the door using the code. The apartment was different from the pics that we saw during booking so we were a bit hesitant, "is this the right one?" After that, all was great. We got email from owner informing the coming bad weather so we were not surprised when our tours were cancelled or rescheduled. We had kitchen so we can cook simple food and fridge to store cheese, ham and milk/juice. Supermarket is nearby and restaurants are plenty around. It's close to attractions so we could still do a bit of sightseeing despite the heavy snowing. We walked to the Phalic Museum. It was great and not pornographic, just a lot of preserved phalic. My 6 year old son and 15 year old daughter thought it was a refreshing museum. My son enjoyed the choice of kids programs on TV and my daughter enjoyed the Internet connection. Despite the weather outside, stuck inside was still a holiday.

Terrible check-in experience, hard to find
Our flight from the US arrived at 7am, and having been an overnight flight, it was hard to cope with the hotels 2pm check in time, which most hotels say, but they get you in anyway, this one does not. They said they'd text us when the room was ready, but they never did. When we showed back up at 2pm, the check in process was very confusing and there wasn't anyone to greet us. Also we mapped the hotel on google maps, and the pin location was way off, about 5 blocks away, and the street names are all 100 characters long in Iceland. The locals in the area had never heard of the apartments, so it took us about an hour to find the place once we had arrived at the location Google maps said it was. The room was spacious, nice, and clean, but if I were to go back to Iceland I would recommend paying a little extra and staying in an actual hotel, as opposed to the apartment experience.

Our host greeted us with shark and a their local schnapps. She laid out local attractions on a map and recommended good restaurants. She even offered to wake us up if the Northern Lights. Excellent stay, highly recommend.

A lot of bang for your buck.
Loved having a full kitchen, living/bedroom, bathroom for less than I paid for a hotel in downtown. Felt like a great deal. No parking but they do have a washer/dryer on site for us dirty people. Some construction going on in the neighborhood.

Grea apartment with some improvements needed
Positives: great, central location, modern apartment, warm underfloor heating, All amenities provided. Negatives: unfortunately we had been given no guidance about what to do when we arrived and we had to ask a guest through a window how to get in to our apartment. They luckily told us the key was in the laundry room, which fortunately was open. It would have been good to have received some guidance or a greeting from the owner. Another negative was the building work that wasn't occurring behind the building. We were woken up at 7.30 on two mornings and the banging went on until 6 in the evening (this would have been fine except we chose to relax in the apartment one afternoon). Finally the kitchen light needs replacing-it was very hard to see what we were cooking on the hob! On the whole we were still very pleased with our stay, but a few changes would have made it 10/10

Great Apartment
My friends and I stayed in the superior one-bed apartment with balcony for 3 nights. The location of the apartment is great - on the street next to the main shopping street Laugavegur, so everything is in walking distance, but still quiet at night. It also has a nice view of the Hallgrímskirkja church. The apartment is clean, warm, newly renovated and nicely designed. The check-in/check-out is very easy as you just pick-up and put-back the key from the laundry room. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom has a great powerful shower. There are many English channels on the TV and the internet is very fast.

Nice apartment in a fantastic location
This apartment is right off the main tourist/shopping street in Reykjavik and a 10 minute walk from the heart of downtown. The apartment was great for 2 people, had all the necessary items in the kitchen, had an EXCELLENT shower, was quiet and clean, and generally was a great deal. The owners also let us lock our belongings up before check-in so that we didn't have to lug them around. I can't recommend Grettisborg Apartments highly enough.

Great apartment in a very handy location.
Weii organised key pick ul as there was no reception. The apartment is well located within mi utes walk to the classy shops and restaurants of tbe cith centre. The apartment, although quite small was very comfortable for the 4 of us, the sofa bed was very comfortable. We could cater meals in the well provisioned kitcgen- stove top, oven, microwave, toaster, ekectric kettle and dishwasher. The decor is modern. There is also access to a laundry with washing machine and dryer, what a bonus when you have been travelling for a few weeks. We originally booked for one night but ended up staying for tbree.

Great place to stay!
centrally located, just off of the Main Street in Hremmer neighborhood, where you can find many bars, shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The apartment suited my wife and I perfectly on our Icelandic stopover en route to Europe. Host was responsive to questions before and during the stay, and logistics were easy in terms of coordinating our arrival. Stop at the blue lagoon first! It's on the way coming up town from the airport!

A cosy little apartment right in the heart of town
I booked the Grettisborg Apartments for a long weekend with my husband in Reykjavik. Our apartment was perfect for two people - a bedroom with sliding door to a lounge/kitchenette with a table and chairs to seat two people. The apartment was very clean and in good condition, with a small balcony. The bedroom had both blinds and curtains which made for a very good nights sleep. There are six apartments, so it has a homely/cosy feel and is only one block away from the main shopping street (Laudevegur) making it an excellent location to explore during the day and go out for dinner/drinks in the evening but far enough away from the noisy late night bars towards the old town. My only criticism is that our room wasn't available at the check in time we were told, so we had to wander round for another half an hour which was a bit of a pain as we had already wandered round for a few hours because our flight was early in the morning. It would have also been great to have a small 'welcome basket' with teabags and coffee sachets - as you might find in a hotel - since all I wanted to do on arrival was unpack and make a cup of tea. If you're only staying for a few days, its a pain to have to buy a whole box of teabags. That said, I would definitely stay there again and would recommend for families too as it was very quite and we were never disturbed by the other guest.

Quit and cozy, the building is recessed from the street, but steps away from the heart of the city. Excellent bed linens, heated floors, good TV, and windows that can open. Rarely do I want to just relax in my hotel room, but we felt perfectly at home here! Walls and floors are a bit thin (the double doors to the bedroom keep the hall noise to a minimum) so bring house slippers or just wear socks inside, in consideration of other hotel guests. Do get in touch with the staff regarding your expected arrival time and confirm how you'll access your room to guarantee the smoothest checkin.

A home away from home in Reykjavik.
We only stayed here one night, but would readily return. Personable and very accommodating, the woman I exchanged emails with made our stay as comfortable as I had hoped it might be. The apartment itself was very small, but clean and well appointed, with small kitchen and nice bathroom. The location is also great, just blocks from the most popular walking streets in famous Reykjavik. A big plus, the Flybus drops and retrieves you right at your front door. Washer and dryer and a pretty, quiet setting are also appealing features. You'll enjoy your time here.

Nice apartment and very central
Very easy to get to by airport bus, even with lots of luggage. Beds were very comfortable. Great to have free WiFi. Kitchen was well set up, and very nice with heated floor in the bathroom and lots of towels. Very nice to have an unlimited supply of hot water coming directly into the taps because of the hot springs. No need for hot water tanks. We were very close to a little shopping street that had a main grocery store and a big variety of restaurants. .

Breathtaking
These are sept service apartments in the heart of Reykjavik. We didn't see the owner but via email we were exactly informed how to get in our room and questions were answered pronto. The apartment offers a great space for a low price. We prepared breakfast and lunches in a clean kitchen that has what you might need. It was warm an quiet and walking distance to a shopping street. Iceland is very expensive and I would recommend buy food a grocery stores. Don't go to Iceland to see Reykjavik. However the daytrips we took into the land and nature were worth millions. Be prepared to walk. The further you go the more awesome the views are. What a beautiful country. We were truly in awe of the great raging rivers and the power of nature. The task to keep it unspoiled and still approachable by lovers of nature will be a huge challenge for the Icelandic government. We only stayed 2 nights which was only a tease. Can't wait to go back!

The apartment is clean, fully equipped, comfortable bed, laundry room and close to grocery stores, restaurant and waterfront. Parking is rather hard to find at night and it's not free. Overall, we are happy to stay here.

Check in issues
We had booked for 3 nights but were given a room for the first 2 nights and had to change rooms for the 3rd night. this meant that we had no room from 11am to 2pm and had to remain in town for the day. There was no staff at check in just an email telling us the room key would be left on a key board in the Laundry. There was only one key on the board so we took it and moved in. Later we were told we were in the wrong room and would have to move in 2 days time. It seems the cleaning staff had not written names on the board nor put our room key on the board.

Super accommodating owner, great floor plan
We booked Grettisborg through Expedia several months ahead of time. As a family with small children we are naturally concerned about child safety and as we turned our mind to that just a couple of weeks before the trip the owner/manager was super-accommodating in providing two cribs for our 3 year old boys. We were given a different room, without the balcony, even though other guests had to be called and moved around to make that happen. 99% of the other places would just have told us that they can't do anything because all the other rooms are booked. So, my hat is off for this outstanding customer service. The location is great, and the floor plan of our unit (apt 7) works very well for a family with small kids. Even though we all slept in the same bedroom we were able to put the boys to bed and then do laundry, watch TV, make some noise in the kitchen etc because there are always two doors between those rooms and the bedroom. Things I wished would have been different: less squeaky doors, a dryer that actually dries, and a WIFI connection that is fast enough to do online stuff like browse web pages - as it is, it is just sufficient to send and receive emails. Also, we never figured out how to control the temperature in the apartment, we were hot during the entire stay even though the day time high was only 12 C/54 F.

We were less than satisfied with our stay at the Grettisborg Apartments. While there, we never even saw or heard from the owner. The bedroom was okay, but the sitting room was tiny. It was advertised as having a pull out couch. The "pull out" couch consisted of a one piece cushion for one side of the "bed" and a a four cushion contraption for the other side of the pull out "bed". VERY uncomfortable. The bedroom was clean, and the bathroom was clean, but the pull out was less than fresh. The pictures appear MUCH nicer than the reality!
