Paper thin walls

Posted Apr 22, 2018
I think overall the staff was nice. Rooms were well kept for such a historical building But the walls were paper thin U can hear every door slamming, neighbors having loud sex, etc. Didn’t really get good sleeps here, but I guess that really depends on who stays around the room you checked in to

Small rooms, aging hotel but convenient location.

Posted Apr 20, 2018
Amenities were nice and hotel was clean but the rooms were small and it was, definitely, not worth the price. Valet and rest of staff were extremely nice.

English Inn

Hotel on busy road but our room was away from the street so more quiet. Down comforter, nice beds and sheets but bathrooms are a little dated. Keurig coffee in room. Good continental breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries.

Unique hotel

Posted Apr 1, 2018
Nice hotel but no amenities available like other hotels of comparable price. No refrigerator, no microwave, no indoor pool, no whirlpool, and parking can be difficult. Reserved two rooms for myself and son and his girlfriend and they put us on separate floors at the opposite ends of the hotel even though the room next to me was connecting and unoccupied. The continental breakfast was also not as good as in the past. Staff is always very friendly and the room are very clean and comfortable. Will probably not stay at again.

Maintenance slipping?

Posted Mar 30, 2018
Hotel has very unique and interesting decor. However, the maintenance of the rooms including basic cleaning is subpar. One of our sheets seemed to be stained... but it was actually so thin in places you could read through it.

Anniversary stay

Posted Mar 26, 2018
We stayed at the Cheshire on our wedding night 41 years ago. We went back for our anniversary yesterday. While the hotel is beautiful it looked rather shabby and dirty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only one bath towel in our room so obviously it had not been cleaned since the previous guest.

One gets an actual plate and service at breakfast. Much better than everything wrapped in plastic.

I'll be back!

Posted Mar 20, 2018
After reading reviews I hesitated to stay at the Cheshire, but it was in the right location at the right price and so I took a chance. I am so glad I did! I travel to this area often and will now make this my hotel of choice. The room was updated, large and inviting, and the public areas, linens, towels etc. were perfectly clean and the entire stay was pleasant. I'm pretty picky and travel a lot and I was more than satisfied. There was a problem with my reservations (not the hotel's fault) and the staff handled it quickly and professionally. The hotel is older and dark, which some people may think of as "dingy," but the step-back-in-time experience is what the Cheshire is all about. Its also nice to have a good restaurant and Starbucks right next door.
