Serious structural issues with the lower parking garage with large cracks in the concrete. I touched one of those cracks with my hand and a golf ball sized piece of concrete came out and hit my car (no damage). My room was at the end of the hallway and I did not have warm water one morning for a shower after I tried running the show for over 5 minutes. On weekends, the lobby gets really loud and crowded as it has a popular bar there. Parking is a problem at times. I rented a royal room hoping that it would be as good as the photos shown, but it seemed to be lacking furnishings. I am on the fence if I would stay here again.

This hotel is absolutely one of my favorites I’ve ever been in, from the interesting decor, chess sets left on tables( a life size one to play in the garden), spot on service, fantastic breakfast, and pub full of intrigue you never want to leave.

Super comfortable beds and pillows. Delicious breakfast with lots of fruits and berries. The only thing I didn’t like was the bathroom light. It turns on automatically when you need to use the bathroom at night, and doesn’t turn off for an eternity:) keeps you awake

This is a one of a kind place. Breakfast is outstanding! Beds are extremely comfortable! Extremely accommodating for pets! Since it is an older hotel, the walls are pretty thin. Parking is frustrating with a truck. If the restaurant is open next store, good luck finding a spot for the hotel.

The property is old and in need of updates, if even possible. The front desk did allow me to check in early, which was much appreciated. I struggle to see how it's a **** hotel. I had a nice view out my windows of an alley. I was born and reared in St. Louis; racial strife comtinues to dominate. I ended my stay at this hotel sadder over what I remember of St. Louis, than the reason I came to town, which wad for a beloved family member's funeral.

The staff were very attentive. The property was charming, but definitely had some deferred maintenance, there was a broken window pane in our room that was fixed with tape and still had a piece missing. There is a lot of nick nackery that could use a good dusting. Breakfast was decent - not a full English breakfast though. The room was large, the bathroom was nice but very small. Safe area. Really walkable and close to Forest Park and all kinds of food.

While it has a really cool “retro” decor, it seems it’s really just because the property is dated. Our room was noisy due to the hvac system and the shower was so small my shoulders nearly touched each wall. That’s the bad- the good is that it’s in a convenient, safe location and there’s an excellent dispensary around the corner- next time in StLouis, we will be looking for a more modern boutique hotel.

Disappointing stay
New Year's Eve stay. We stayed here last NYE as well. This year, they closed the bar early and kicked a full bar out to the lobby at 10 pm. Really disappointing. Staff is not very polite and the garage smells like weed.

We appreciate your critique about the staff and will look to resolve that. Unfortunately, while we try to make sure that guests are not smoking while on property, it is very difficult to catch people smoking weed in the vehicles. We would really prefer they not smoke on our property at all.

Love the Cheshire
The Cheshire is a St. Louis institution. Quirky and fun, with friendly, excellent staff, well-maintained facilities, and a self-aware, but super-fun vibe. Love this place! We spent NYE in the lobby, playing games at the big table in front of the fire place, playing the piano, drinking cocktails from the Fox & Hound, and generally having a great time. We all got rooms on the first floor and the kids had a place to retreat to, and us, too, when it was time to NOT drive home. haha! The rooms were very well maintained, comfortable, with free water and coffee. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, with delicious English sausage, eggs, home fries, scones, danishes, decent coffee and more. We lived in St Louis for years and never went to the Cheshire, but for NYE our friends invited us to come back and stay there with several other friends. It was a blast. Sad I didn't really know how great the Cheshire is before this. Very family friendly. Highly recommend.

First night check-in room was not up to par on cleanliness marks on ceiling above bed, webs on the apron of bed bottom looking like a cacoon, corner of celings cobwebs hanging room was cold. Second room no heat slept in clothes (wedding ANNIVERSAY IN CLOTHES!)! Question front desk Lady second day inquiring of eating place on campus very rude and not helpful! Third room was in an upgrade fashion Thank you maam! Only woman (light skin black lady) sorry didnt remember name who was cordial and concern who we delt with (Front desk worker) everyone else was excellent ! The person who i quess who you can say checked us out never came out just talk from the bed behind wall go figure.outdated for the price

From the beginning … the staff,Em J and everyone else were so nice and friendly. The atmosphere and the quaint hotel were exceptional. The breakfast was amazing! The entire experience was fantastic. Definitely would stay here again. I took so many pictures and sent them to family and friends. Five star all the way. Fox and hound tavern food was delicious too.

The elevators were dirty. This is one of the first things to be seen. You must clean this are regularly. I was impressed with the breakfast selections. No attendant at the front desk at checkout. There was no bell to summon them. An employee saw me waiting and they contacted someone in the office behind the counter. Nice appointments throughout but, dated.

We apologize if you were not told about the fee at check-in, but it is clearly posted on our website, the third party's website, and our check-in materials. And even though we do not have a doorman or bellman, we are more than happy to help guests with luggage if the guest requests assistance.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel, which was marketed as a luxury experience. Unfortunately, several issues significantly impacted our staycation, especially considering we were traveling with a 7-month-old baby. Firstly, we encountered a lack of hot water in our initial room, necessitating a room change. Additionally, we were surprised to learn that daily room cleaning services were not provided. This was attributed to previous incidents involving the alleged theft of guest items by the cleaning staff, leading to a policy where rooms are not cleaned during a guest's stay. Furthermore, we noticed considerable dust accumulation in our room, including dirty vents, and found the heating system to be inadequate. These conditions are not only uncomfortable but also raise concerns about the overall maintenance and cleanliness standards of the hotel. While the exterior architecture and lobby decor are indeed impressive and beautifully designed, the quality of our room and the services provided did not meet the expected standards of a luxury hotel. Regrettably, this experience has fallen short of what we anticipated, and we will be checking out tomorrow morning.

Positives. We liked the kitschy charm. Location is very strong. Accessibility to the city and county is easy. Restaurant (Basso) very, very good. Ditto the pub in the hotel. Dog friendly (though I think there is some confusion of policy where dogs can and can’t be). Negatives. The keyless access required nearly daily reboot of the keys. The reservation policy of the restaurant (Basso) only allowed reservations for 6 or more. Since we were only a couple, we ended up eating elsewhere several times because, while good, does not warrant a 45 minutes wait. Lost revenue poor policy. Good percentage of staff reeked of pot. Seriously. On more than one occasion security door at back of hotel ajar and unattended for I guess staff smoking breaks? At the same time front door locked, and with unreliable keycard, left standing outside because desk unattended for 30 minutes. Cold, cold outside at 3 AM. Friendly housekeeping staff; however they absconded with personal pillows when servicing room. I don’t think they recognized ours vs theirs. Built with two elevators but seemed only one in regular service. Would I stay here again? Probably but with eyes more open….it’s location, location, location.

The staff was friendly and the property is just charming. The Fox & Hound pub was the perfect end to the day with its warm fire, cozy couches, and good spirits. It was like being transported to a local British pub a few decades in the past. Will definitely be staying there again!

I stay here every few months and love it. The location is a close distance to any type of food you want. The pub inside is quiet with great food. The bartender is wonderful! Breakfast is incredible and the staff is great!

Nothing like it in STL
It is a cool old school hotel filled with antiques and artwork. The bathroom was small, but the bed was super comfortable. The room was a nice size! The front desk, people we’re not super friendly and welcoming, but it’s a great location.
