Perfect for an overnight stay!

Pros: Great and friendly staff. Made an excellent review for local dining.
Cons: The property itself, mostly in room. Nice curb appeal already!
Location: Many options for food and shopping around, plus close to the highways!
Very nice staff! Hotel needs some maintenance and repairs, but overall it was functional and perfect for our overnight stay.

Econo Lodge Glen Allen, VA

Pros: Price
Cons: Carpeting, bedspreads, pillows, and better finishing touches.
Location: Brook Rd. in Glen Allen, VA. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.
The Econo Lodge was a decent hotel for the money. It was clean but the carpeting had scars, like burn marks, in a few areas. It made me want to always wear my slippers. Very few amenities in the room, just soap and shampoo. Nice TV with cable and mini microwave with fridge. As for the bedding, the spreads were nothing more than blankets which were wrinkled but acceptable. I personally think standard bedspreads look better because the lay neatly on the bed. Pillows were crappy, shape-wise. Sheets and towels were clean. As for the overall appearance of the room, it looked dated but was acceptable. Bathroom needed a better or more professional looking caulking job, but, again, it was okay for the price. I didn't need it, but there was no iron or ironing board in my room. My friend had one in his room. There was also no "Do Not Disturb" door hanger in my room. I had to use a door hanger that discussed the option to be green by not replacing towels and washcloths everyday which was fine with me since I was a single.

This was my first time staying at a hotel on my own. The gentleman that helped me with check-in and out was very nice, had a great sense of humor and a smile on his face the entire time helping me. While making sure all paperwork was correct he was telling funny stories and was just an all around pleasant man. I will definitely stay at this location again when i come to Richmond just because that man made it a great stay.

Basic room but comfy.

Pros: Comfy bed. Basic room.
Cons: Provide more pillows (they are small, 4-6). Add an Allpoint (or non surcharge) ATM on the property.
Location: Waffle House and several fast food restaurants w/in walking distance. Convenient to Richmond International Raceway.
We stayed in room 101. The room is very convenient to parking and the front office. The room, however, is right next door to the laundry room. From this room, you can hear the washing machine cycles, especially the spin cycle! Laundry started around 8am Saturday morning. You can also hear footsteps from the room above. Fortunately, the guests above us were not noisy and that didn't bother us. It could be worse if there are small children playing/running. When the hotel is booked, parking could be an issue towards late evening. For a room with a king size bed, I would have expected more than 3 small square pillows. We probably could've requested more, but we were tired and made do. The bed was comfy enough. This hotel is about a 12-15 minute drive to RIR, so convenient for attending a NASCAR race. Cab service was quick to arrive. Two cap company's have business cards in the front office. The 3 front office staff I worked with were courteous, attentive and helpful. Before check in, I received a confirmation call. During that call I realized I reserved a smoking room. I prefer a non-smoking room and asked if we could switch. At the time of the call, I was told a note would be made to my booking and if one was available when we arrive, we could switch. But, the hotel was booked and she could not guarantee it. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at 10pm, that a non-smoking room was available. Overall, a pleasant experience and we would probably stay there again.

had hotel call ME while I was on the road, couldn't speak hands free due to the back ground noise so I called them back when we stopped. ' Told them I wanted to cancel we'd be traveling farther before stoppingr so didn't need the hotel and an hour later received an email CONFIRMING my reservation. hadn't passed the hotel yet so stopped at the address to check and yes the room was canceled. received an email that i'd checked out the next morning as well and never spent the night. strange....at least it didn't show up on my CC.

Not awful not great

The hotel was overall clean. There was no musty smell. The pictures do not adequately represent the hotel. When I went for breakfast, there was nothing more than toast and some pastries, no cereal like in the pictures. For the price, we would likely try another hotel in the area.

When I stay in a motel, I don't expect it to be like a fine hotel, so I temper my expectations. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by Econo Lodge Richmond. The room was clean and the beds surprisingly comfortable. I believe there were smoking rooms nearby, but no smell from them penetrated my room. For a quick, one-night stopover, I was quite satisfied.

Well it was a big inconvenience to me and my traveling guest that we couldn't park our vehicles at the same place I want to be comfortable to know that I can see my vehicle at anytime but it's hard when your car in a block away because one park per guest
