Just needed a place to sleep before driving home next day. Did not want to spend a lot. It did what we needed it to do.

Pros: The price and proximity to the University of Richmond.
I have stayed in Super 8's before and this one is in bad need of a renovation....curtain, bedding, bathroom, carpet, front door, lobby. The first clue should have been the security window at check in...maybe this was a rough neighborhood. All I needed was a place to sleep but if I had been with my wife, there's no way we would have stayed at this hotel for more than 5 minutes.

stayed because all other hotels booked. The hotel was ok. nothing special. sadly, needs some updates, like mattresses. You could tell they were old and well used. room was very large.

Disappointing experience

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Cleanliness of basically everything. Fixing curtain rails
Location: there's a McDonals and Taco Bell right alongside the Super 8. There's an olive garden and dollar store across the street
I was looking for a cheap and simple place to stay while visiting the Richmond cycling event. Having read some of the reviews I did not have any high expectations but also thought it couldn't be all that bad since there were some OK reviews as well. I would love to know in which rooms these people stayed because mine was horrible. The putrid smell upon entry was as if something had died in the room. It seemed to come from the AC which on/off button was broken... I kept the window open all evening which did not make me feel very secure but I just couldn't sleep in the smell. What was also disconcerting was that there were cards indicating not to open your room to anyone without them showing you ID and to make sure the deadbolt was on at all time. Of course the latter makes sense but the former made me think they may have some security issues. My sheets had brown stains and there were red stains in the towels in the bathroom. The fridge was a nice addition to the room were it not also very dirty and have brown ice in the freezer compartment. The curtain rail was duck taped to the wall and so I didn't dare open the curtain for fear of it falling off. Breakfast was as expected, nothing much but definitely not bad. A bit of toast, cereal and milk. The only problem was that there were nearly 15 people standing shoulder to shoulder holding their plates up because there were only 4 chairs and two very small tables. In short, I hope to never repeat the experience.

crummy, moldy place

Pros: close to the Amtrak station. wifi was almost tolerable.
Cons: tear down
The hallway reeked of stale cigarettes. My room had a weird moldy smell. There were crumbs on the floor of my room. It had a nasty carpet. No mattress covers to protected against bed bugs. Staff was friendly enough.

A HOT MESS!!!!!!

The staff was not friendly, their was roaches in the room, and they do not keep the hotel to par!!!! I will not be staying here again!!!!!!

Comfortable rest

I stayed one day just for overnight and it was cozier than I expected and had quite nice sleep here.
