Nice and quiet, clean and spacious rooms, breakfast was very tasty with a wide variety, about 1 mile/20 minute walk from the old town centre but lots of local places to eat and easy to navigate, maximum 5 mins walk to the national museum.

A unique and memorable property in a good location. The staff is friendly and multilingual, the breakfast is good, and the wifi, which worked about 90% of the time, was very fast. I would only suggest updating some of the basic features -- I had a nice spacious room, but the shower curtain was rather old and flimsy, and the hot water was inconsistent. Overall, though, a good stay.

Good hotel, great service, but not so great rooms
The location of the hotel is very good, next to trendy cafés and walking distance to the old town. The staff were really amazing. Always friendly and trying to be as accommodating as possible. However, there were some negative issues regarding the room. The furniture is quite old and the curtains were falling apart and they were not blackout curtains, which meant that it was very bright in the room from early morning. Although the room was non-smoking and there was a sign warning of a penalty for smoking in the room, it still stank of the smell of tobacco. In the day before leaving, the room was simply not cleaned and the towels were not replaced. The breakfast was really good and the terrace was a great place to chill out.

The hotel is old but nevertheless clean and comfortable. It is conveniently located with easy access to the Old Town as well as downtown area. Staff is friendly and breakfast is good.

I just loved this charming hotel. It's delightful. Great location and near the stunning gardens and parks but only a few minutes walk to the old town. Super comfortable rooms with everything and wonderful breakfasts.

Old hotel in the midst of the Art Nouveau district. 10 minute walk to busses, trams and Hop on Hop off bus. there are two floors above the reach of the lift, so,be prepared to carry your luggage higher. breakfast good and can be taken on an open terrace in good weather.

Short break in Riga
We had a lovely short 5 night break in Riga, staying at Art Hotel Laine. It was reasonably well situated, near to the old town. The only downside was there were no shops, bars or restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The reception was on the 3rd floor, the staff were welcoming & friendly. Our room was number 607 on the 7th floor. The lift only goes up to the 5th floor, then a walk up 2 flights of stairs, 1 of which was a wooden staircase. A little difficult for people with disabilities. The room was spacious, clean & recently refurbished. There were problems with getting hot water for a shower, which we weren't told that the hot tap had to be run for a long period of time before it came hot. The air conditioning was very good amd free. The continental breakfast was plentiful and ample.

Quirky hotel
A quirky hotel with an unprepossessing entrance via a lift and reception on the third floor. In the past it had obviously been a very grand hotel with a different entrance. Some of the grandeur remained however with spacious corridors and rooms together with high corniced ceilings. Beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet and spacious. Breakfasts offered a good choice of food and all of the staff were welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is quite well situated about 15 minutes walk from the centre of town. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will stay here again if we return to Riga.

Lovely staff
The staff were very helpful and the location is great: 15 mins walk max into the old city. Breakfast was a decent buffet breakfast. The décor is tired and needs a refresh: walk in showers and international TV channels are pretty much standard these days

The breakfast was below par. Way below. And I found that I needed to pay a extra 7 EUR for my breakfast. Wow. If ever in town again, Never again to that hotel. I haven't travelled much in my days but this was the most dirty hotel I ever saw.

Excellent location and friendly staff. Room was clean and had all the essentials. The only downside was the lack of sound insulation between rooms. I actually woke up one night thinking somebody was walking around in my room, when in fact, it was just a sound of my neighbour's footsteps.

Like - quiet, on quiet street with access through court-yard to 3rd floor lobby, acess by foot to Old Town, city centre, near to public transit, excellent for physically able male travelling alone since food and other amenities ample within easy walking distance (restaurant in hotel had closed, however breakfast was available and good and plentiful). Very clean. Minor amenities sparse - does not affect my opinion of hotel. I always bring my own basic soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. Helpful staff at all times (can order breakfast if have pre-breakfast function or travel). Good value for my travel needs in Riga. Saw as guests families with children. I was not seeking an experience but a good base for my activities in Riga which it was. Like!

Great location to walk to old town through beautiful parks. Price of hotel is very reasonable for location to old town. Entrance and staircase are plain but the hotel floors have a nice combination of classic and modern. Very good value and would stay there again.

Good location at a decent price. I was on the 7th floor but the elevator goes only up to 5th. This might be a problem for some as the stairs are not standard. (I had no issues but if you have a lot of luggage, avoid). The staff was friendly and nice. the breakfast was not that great, and I ended up eating mostly outside.

Interesting hotel close to museums and restaurants
All postive! Staff super helpful and friendly, large comfortable room, varied and plentiful breakfast included in an interesting older building, near museums and restaurants, 10 mins walk from the historic old town. The rooms are full of art and the textiles are attractive. Lots of visitor info was available, maps and leaflets etc, and there is coffee drinks and snacks available at reception at all times. The reception is on floor 3 via a lift,, some rooms above floor 5 have only stairs, so if you need a lift you should mention it.

The hotel was situated in a perfect urban location. Room was spacious, bathroom facilities were excellent; however the television did not work and there was no radio or clock. There was no street noise, but other guests could be heard through the walls at night. The hotel staff were great. Beautiful interiors and courtyard. Liels paldies!

Beautiful hotel near the Art Nouveau district
I rarely stay in the same hotel twice,but if I return to Riga,I will stay at this one again. A beautiful old building in a courtyard (I was greeted by a lovely old ginger cat on arrival) Breakfast on the terrace then a walk by the park to the old town.If you like Art Nouveau,I think you will probably like it here.The room was very big and there was a proper bathtub.A lovely place with a relaxing atmosphere.The decor is rather unique. It is unpretentious and charming.An unusual hotel-in the best way. I really enjoyed the experience of staying here. If you like posh,aseptic uniformity,this may not be the place for you. But if you like old buildings with history and character,this may be a good place to stay.It is very good value for money,central and comfortable. Recommended for solo travellers.And people travelling together.A lovely small hotel.

Nice, inexpensive hotel close to the old city
This is not a luxury hotel, but it is a nice place to stay if you are visiting Riga. Parking has to be arranged ahead of time, but we were able to find a place on the street. Since we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, we only had to pay until 6 PM and then Sunday was free. We had to leave on Monday morning at 8:15. You have to go through a courtyard and up an elevator three flights to get to the hotel, but it is quite comfortable inside with a fine breakfast. It is only a short walk to most sights of Riga, so this is a good low-budget option for visiting Riga. I would recoomend it.

I was disappointed with Art Hotel Laine. I stayed in a 6th-floor room there for two nights at the end of July 2018. The 6th floor is the 2nd-highest floor in the hotel and on the two scorching hot days that I stayed there, my room -- which did not have A/C or a fan -- was unbearably stuffy at night, so much so that I had trouble sleeping. Also, the wi-fi didn't work anywhere on the 6th floor. I had to go down to the lobby on the 3rd floor to get a signal. Hot water for the shower took several minutes to heat up, although eventually it worked. The location's pretty good, the staff are friendly, and my room was very clean. But if you're staying in the summer, either request a room on a lower floor (maybe lower down it's cooler), or shell out a little extra money for a hotel with air conditioning. A/C is probably only necessary two or three weeks a year in Latvia, but when you do need it and don't have it, it's pretty miserable.

Good hotel, just outside the old town. The hotel worked well as a base to explore Riga, the rooms were simply furnished and met my needs. The breakfast was included in the rate and had a good selection. I was on the 7th floor which meant climbing a couple of flights of stairs after taking the lift which was not a problem for me, it may be a consideration if you have mobility issues.

Great Hotel Near Old Town
Just a beautiful park separates this hotel from Old Town. Bonus: the amazing art nouveau neighborhood is a couple streets away! Breakfast was a step up from the usual offerings and included everything you would expect and then some. I went out to the patio on mornings that were warm enough. The rooms are simple, certainly not fancy, but clean and super quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even packed a breakfast for my early flight! Yes, I would stay here again!

This hotel is next to the Swedish Embassy and is quiet. The staff members were polite and helpful; breakfasts were very good. The decor felt delightfully quaint with Art Nouveau details.

Great hotel! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Nice quiet cool room. Looked forward to ‘as much as I could eat’ breakfast in the morning. Easy twenty minute walk from main station in a nice part of town. Arts cinema bar a few doors down was good place to sit and in the sun or shade for a drink. Only criticism of the hotel was I could have done with tea coffe facilities in room. Definitely would use again.

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Great value for the cost, very centrally located. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast (all you can eat buffet) was fantastic and set me up for the day e plotting Riga. Staff were also happy to organise taxi to airport and to look after my luggage after I checked out whilst I did some last minute sightseeing. Great fast and free WiFi and a nice clean room.

I made reservation at this hotel and after booked another one and cancelled this reservation. Of course, I still was charged for the first night. Be aware, this hotel won't negotiate on anything and if something will go wrong they will charge you no matter what. Never going to view they offers or go anywhere close to them! Disappointed customer.

lovely quiet hotel with an entrance in a courtyard, very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast looked nice but did not have time to eat it. Room was spacious, as was the bathroom with a large bath/shower, with a comfy bed & everything I needed. Hotel was close enough to town to be walking distance (10 minutes?) and there were some interesting buildings around. Overall a really nice stay, would go straight back again next time.

The room is quite spacious and with a classic touch (although in good condition). The guys in the front desk were always nice. It's about 10 minute walk to get to the old town, but still a very good neighborhood. There is very nice a kebab place almost in front of it, in case you need a quick meal without going too far.
