Basic but clean hotel

Posted Dec 16, 2016 on Hotels
Clean but very basic. No wardrobe. Shower room sink kept blocking up. Could do with a kettle in room. No where to sit when not in the room except stools in a corridor off reception. The reception staff were excellent.

Not bad

Posted May 3, 2016 on Hotels
Good hotel in bad location hence the price! Actually everything was OK but room size...yeah, and almost forgot, TV suits this room, not easy to spot it immediately :). So, good stay, good small bathroom, but not the best view outside the window at least to say! And foreigners...don't walk outside late here, it's Riga's ghetto!

A reasonable budget hotel. Most inconvenient was poor sound isolation and with many rooms you always have someone talking on phone or a kid running and jumping etc.

Very nice, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms. Close to Riga centre. Tram stop just outside the door. 5 min on tram or taxi to old Riga,Lido,Central market, etc. About 15-20 minutes walk. Had a great stay. Could not ask for more for the money.

Modern Hotel in old neighbourhood

Posted Aug 23, 2015
Pros: Staff are very helpful. Breakfast is good value at 5 euros for a generous buffet, although it could do with a wider choice of hot items.
Cons: Main defect is lack of air conditioning, which encourages you to open the window on hot nights. But this lets noise in.
Location: There were a few bars and clubs nearby, though I didn't check them out. The city centre is less than 10 minutes away by tram No 7.
Hotel is clean and attractively decorated. My room but compact, but spacious enough. Ample power points, fast wifi and a large desk were great assets. The bathroom was small but clean with modern fittings. Some reviewers were put off by the hotel's neighbourhood. With its acres of cobbles over the roads, tram lines and old buildings in various stages of dilapidation and restoration, it does look like old pictures of Manchester circa 1910. But I had no problems. The cobbles certainly magnify noise from any passing vehicle, even a small car going down the road outside my window. I left my window open due to the lack of air conditioning, so the rubber-on-cobbles thrumming was added to the distant background hum of the city. Best asset is the No 7 tram route; the stop to city centre is less than 50 metres from the front door. The tram service is frequent for most of the day and evening. It takes you straight to the bus station, rail station and heart of the tourist areas on each side of Bastion Hill park; the line runs up the west side of this lovely park and stops outside the Opera House and National Theatre. 5 day ticket costs 15 euros for unlimited travel on Riga buses, trolleybuses and trams.

The hotel definitely was great and the staff was awesome. Iwas traveling by myself but they were really helpful and spoke english. Totally recommend this place. Not so close to the center but that was for sure not a problem.

Really nice reception boys

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Liked comfy rooms, they have privat shower & wc inside room. Overall rooms are bit too small for family & couple stay (my personal opinion) The reception boys was really nice, always helpful.Breakfast - simple, nice & tasty. Would def stay again. Only a two tips - in summer time a mini fridge & cond/fan would be perfect.
