Beauty and comfort

Posted Sep 30, 2017
Pros: View of Falls, great breakfast
Cons: Service is inconsistent, one night our waiter brought bread, then next night did not. Several examples of similar inconsistency come to mind
Location: Perfect for Killarney National Park, Ring of Kerry and Beara Peninsula sightseeing
Two night stay as anchor for Ring of Kerry and Beara Peninsula sightseeing--perfect location for purpose. Lovely view of falls, I believe we were told all rooms face the falls. Many have balconies, lovely and a nice touch. Only downside to location is that it's a solid mile or more to Kenmare, which is of course a very short drive but because it's along dark roads it would not be an option after having a drink or two in a pub and wanting to walk back. Staying on site in the hotel pub is an option, but selection is limited. Food selection in the pub somewhat limited and the distinction the hotel makes between where one eats in the dining room (pub or not) seems arcane and unnecessary.

Dear Julie, Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us. You are correct somewhat regarding the views. All except one of our rooms overlooks water. Half our rooms overlook Kenmare Bay and the Kerry Mountains while the other half overlook the Sheen Falls. We are very fortunate that our guests have these options. Along with being able to walk to Kenmare or drive there is a number of local taxi services that we can arrange which also allow guests to travel into town and enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two. With regards to the dining options, in the evening we serve food in our Falls Restaurant and Restaurant Lounge areas allowing the Bar area to be free for guests to enjoy a relaxing pre and/or post dinner drinks without the distraction of food being served around them. We find this adds to the experience of the Sheen Bar but we appreciate your comments and know it may not be for everyone. We do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to us again in the near future. Best Wishes Ciaran Murphy Deputy General Manager

You want room 307

Posted Aug 20, 2017
Perhaps we're doing the Lodge a disservice; after all, it has only ONE room 307 but several presumably fine other rooms. It's just that the view of the falls from that high up at that angle is almost breath-taking. The Sheen River empties into a bay at the falls, so, when the tide turns, it appears as if the runoff from the cataract is flowing backward. Neat! And Kenmare seen across the bay is delightful. It houses The Lime Tree restaurant which you should definitely try while you're in the area!

Dear Chris, thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us. We are fortunate that all of our rooms bar one all overlook water. So even though we only have one Rm 307 we do have many other rooms that have stunning views. We look forward to welcoming you back to us again in the near future. Beautiful setting for a hotel

What a beautiful hotel in a great setting. The room is lovely. Lots of great rooms to sit and relax by the fire and enjoy a drink. Enjoyed the beautiful falls to walk around. Staff very friendly. Close to the center of town. Would highly recommend

Thank you Lisa for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us. We are very fortunate to be located in a beautiful part of Ireland with the wonderful sounds of Kenmare Bay on our door step. There is nothing nicer than a large open fire and just like you, I enjoy sitting by them with a nice cocktail. We look forward to welcoming you back to us again in the near future.
