A nice hotel, great location

Posted Jan 29, 2016
A great little hotel on Copacabana. Friendly staff, clean room, great breakfast ~ good value for money. Higher floors give views of the beach to the front and Christ Redentor to the back. Only one small negative, no kettle/tea making facilities in room.

Good location, across from the beach.

Pros: Location Breakfast selection was very good
Cons: Reception staff not that friendly or helpful.
Location: Beach across the road & plenty of restaurants close by
Rooms are small and basic, definitely not a 4 star in my opinion. Very noisy ,can hear people in the next room

Good hotel across the street from the beach .

Pros: Location near the Copacabana Palace Hotel was very good . Maxim Restaurant in front of the Astoria serves up a delicious pepper steak .
Cons: Front desk guy ....Massimo [?] needs more training in customer appreciation . All the rest were fine .
Location: Location across the street from Copacabana beach was very good . Not far taxi ride to get cablecar up to Sugarloaf Mtn summit .
We stayed 4 nights at the Astoria Palace Hotel before shifting to the Ritz in Leblon . Front desk people were helpful except for one male desk person . Room was a bit small . Windows shut kept out most street noise . Watch your things very closely while on the beach .....tie them down if possible , as the beach thieves are very adept at stealing your bag .

Nice Hotel & Great Location

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Pros: The staff, the breakfast, the location and the views from Oceanside room
Cons: It's an older hotel, but most establishments on the beach seemed to be a little dated on the outside. They maintain the hotel well.
Location: EVERYTHING! Beach is directly across the street, numerous restaurants and beach shops, within walking distance to shopping. 15 minute taxi downtown.
We enjoyed our time (1 week) at Astoria Place. The staff was very accommodating, and the property is perfectly located right across from Copacabana Beach. The rooms are not American style - meaning they are not as large as hotel rooms in America, but are still a good size. The complimentary breakfast is simple, but good. The fruit selection is very fresh. The mango was delicious! The front desk staff speaks decent English, and are able to provide good advice about the area and tours. I would definitely stay at the Astoria Palace again.
