New Year Hotel Stay

Posted Jan 6, 2015 on Hotels
We stayed at La Costa around new year. Hotels are typically expensive around this time. So, La Costa price seemed reasonable for us. Denise, one of the hotel staff, was very helpful and friendly to us. She gave us recommendations to city's attractions and other tips. She spoke english, which made it easier for us to communicate, as we did not know Portuguese. However, rooms are very small (as said in the hotel's description), but we were okay with it, as we did not stay much in the room. Neighborhood - bunch of homeless people always around and probably not safe in the night. Day time, no problemo. Due to hotel location, price and staff, its worth a stay for short trips.

One night in "red light district"!

Posted Nov 13, 2013 on Hotels
At first glance this little hotel in the middle of city centre, might look ideal for cheap/decent accommodation. However, you would have to be both blind and deaf to be able to sleep or remotely enjoy your stay. (Preferably, so drunk you would need to be carried to bed). This is only due to a decent breakfast. The AC was louder than the motor at airplane, the bed harder than a brick wall, and you could probably kill someone by hitting the pillow. Also, you will NOT enjoy the meal eating in what looks like a professional prostitution room. Tiny, blue groce lightning, with dirty, disgusting bubble bath. The only and "convenient" window in the room between the bedroom and the bathroom was decorated with a pornographic image of a naked couple. The only positive outcome of our short stay (we had to leave after one night as we got scared we would catch an std from the air) is that we were able to cancel our payment and that the wifi was sufficient to book a new hotel. Also, you will not be able to communicate a simple word in English, such as "booking". We had to wait an hour for them to even find our booking, while waiting in the "reception", a tiny couch placed in a dark garage. My deepest sympathies for the one nice girl working there, but she will not understand this review anyway. You are hereby warned, do not ever stay at this hotel.
