The staff here were not hospitable, and seemed to not like English-speaking guests (when they themselves spoke English). For instance, my room's safe did not work on the second day. When I called down for assistance, I was put on hold and hung up on *twice*. When I visited the desk to say the wi-fi in my room did not work, they said I needed to go to my room and dial 9 - when they could have just done this from their own phone. No one explains the beach towel pick-up clearly. And then, they will tell you they can book a tour for you, but when we asked them to on our way out, we came back at the end of the day and given a card, telling us we could book it ourselves. Also, we had been to breakfast four times before we were offered made -to-order options; no one bothered to tell us and it isn't obvious. As for the room, decently equipped, but how can a beachfront hotel have no place to hang a wet suit in your room? Rugs was stained, sheets were coarse and not comfortable.

You can take my review with a grain of salt, my opinion the hotel is an old hotel probably made when Die Hard was in the theaters and had never been undated since! There service was okay we had some issues in our room which they tried to fix but the issues we had where not fixable the items where just old products which need to be replaced. Again I’m not out to bash the hotel but it’s not my thing I like smaller boutiques like hotels this is a big outdated hotel with nice people that work there.

Across from the better (less crazy, cleaner and more natural) beach in the Rio area. 30 minutes from Downtown and the craziness of Copacabana. The hotel is a solid 3 star property with a simple lobby, old amenities and aging facilities. Staff were hit and miss, the gym broken for the 5 days we were there (needed one single bolt) hot water took 10 minutes to reach ‘warm’, and although we complained about the air conditioning, no one seemed to be able to fix it. (So we froze the whole 5 days) That all said… it’s a good value and the staff that were good were great. The beach is amazing and it’s a great neighborhood with an amazing Italian restaurant next door (Fratellis) Great value for money… and it’s a solid 3 star hotel.

Our trip to Rio was initially planned as a work conference though my family was able to join me. Overall, the hotel itself was gorgeous. Impeccably clean and modern. The food in the hotel restaurant and various bars was really good. The attention to detail in the conference center could not have been better. The pool was pretty though small. The hotel proximity to the beach compensates for the small pool. My only complaint was that I am an active person and enjoy using a gym in the morning time. The hotel gym had a # of equipment pieces that were broken. I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation. The Windsor Barra made our stay in Rio exceptional.

The hotel has very high standards and it shows, breakfast is great and the location in front of the beach is ideal. Hotel's restaurant was also very good. It could improve it's internet, Wi-Fi is not good and it gets disconnected with no aparent reason a lot. TV in room is smart, but for some reason is not able to connect to the Wi-Fi.

In summary, very disappointing. Marketing photos are a lie, no umbrellas by the pool, no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach. We asked the duty manager and they claimed that they can't have umbrellas by the pool due to the wind but hotels opposite with the same level rooftop pools have them and from old photos it appears this hotel used to have them. He also claimed the ones on the lower level have broken. Like so many things in this hotel it appears hotel management are unwilling to invest in replacing old and broken things. The rooms are looking very old and worn, with mould on the ceiling of the bathroom, and clearly haven't been updated in 20 years. The level of cleaning isn't great which makes it worse. Level of service and room amenities are also poor: had to call 3 times for a baby cot bed and iron for the room, and no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. I don't understand how this hotel can be classified 4* without basic amenities and such old/worn decor. Also don't bother trying to order food at the rooftop pool as it takes over an hour when it's busy, despite them saying 15mins, and they don't keep track of who ordered first so don't be surprised if someone else orders after you but gets their food sooner. A huge shame as the location is amazing. The hotel could make a lot more money if they were willing to invest.

The people is extremely nice and friendly. Howe ver, the property requires attention for the guest rooms. The fact that no complimentary water, coffeee and tea available with a coffee machine or similar is not acceptable for the room rate.

The hotel is a fantastic location right in Barra Da Tijuca. The ocean and beach views from the rooms and from the rooftop pool are breathtaking! The hotel is not brand new but the rooms were spacious, clean and very well cared for. The breakfast buffet is an incredible spread with so many fresh and delicious options for all. We enjoyed our time and the hotel so much extended our trip to stay an extra night because it was that awesome! But the best part of this hotel was hands down the staff and service. You truly feel you are in a 5 star hotel with the amazing level of service. I wish I could name all who helped us but everyone from the check in, front desk to the servers and bartenders, to all the staff at breakfast and the security guards, bellman, housekeeping, every single staff member treated us with the utmost level of kindness and superb service. This is what made our stay so memorable! Ok and the views plus location can’t be beat either! We are planning another trip to Rio next year so we can stay at the Windsor even longer! Thank you for a fabulous stay and for your commitment to providing excellent customer service!

We thought that the Hotel for the cost of our stay was a good value. The property was nice and the staff were excellent. Food in the restaurant was outstanding. We enjoyed our stay and my wife and I both said we would stay there again.

Totally unacceptable that a 5 stay hotel has THE WORST GYM I’ve ever been to. Charged R$150 a day when I had a guest over for 2 days is absurd. Lobby staff wasn’t friendly. Pool staff was. Half of the power outlet in my room (1609) weren’t working after checking in. I would not be back. I will go somewhere else next time.

Good stay for short break.
Largely as expected large international-standard hotel. Excellent location right on the beach front with facilities within easy reach. Great breakfast buffet and nice pool area with fantastic views. Service is attentive, if a little slow, staff are friendly, but rooms are beginning to show their age and are a bit dated. Good choice for a short break.

Excellent location. However, the property's overall condition is visible suffering. The rooms look old, and the furniture looks like they were bought from a vintage store in the 80s. The service is average. For the price, I would expect more. It is not recommended for families.

Shocking
The hotel only has 220 V plugs. To rent a transformer to get you down to 110V was difficult and we were told we could only have it for 15minutes. Even more shocking than their odd electrical was their service. Room service needed to be paid for on the spot as opposed to charging to the room. And while the staff was friendly enough they seemed incapable of providing service.
