Inconsiderate and unethical.

Booked through Hotels.com
We were traveling to that city for an unexpected death in the family; a 7 hour drive that got us there after 3 a.m. Were told that because it was after 3, the room was no longer available. By that time my credit card had been charged $100 by Hotels.com. I am now having trouble getting a refund.
I am extremely upset with this experience. It is probably better not to book ahead of time. Just get a room when you arrive. Hotels.com is nothing but trouble and stress. If they refund me, I will give them credit on this and social media. If not, I will be spreading this message.
