The resort is beautiful. We stay in Mexico a

This resort is beautiful. You can hop easily from each building and enjoy each pool. But the service, staff and everyone employed there are horrible. If you don't speak the language then they just ignore you and walk away. I met two people on the entire resort who understood English. The buffet (there are 5) have the same food everyday regardless of where you go to eat. They require reservations for dinner at their 5 restaurants for the entire resort of over 5000 rooms so your chances of getting a reservation are slim to none. Our biggest complaints are the staff and the food. Water activities that they say are included require you to get up by 8 run down to the hut, book your time for that day only (no ahead reservations for a different day) and the location in which you use the water activity stuff is at the WORST most ROUGHEST part of the beach.

Excellent Resort for families

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: superbly renovated interiors and very friendly staff.
Cons: vegetarian options were limited and didn't taste that great.
the resort is huge and has a lot of activities to do. they even have a rental car office right on the premises which we utilized for a day trip to the mayan ruins. our ocean front junior suite was right on the edge towards the beach and right next to the main swimming pool. i wish they had golf carts or some other mini shuttle services near the rooms. they do have a shuttle at the main reception areas but to walk to and from the rooms was a chore.

Great stay and great hotel

Posted Jun 10, 2015
Pros: Everything but mostly the beach in the Maya Beach and Maya Caribe side.
Cons: Food, there was no taco station and I was looking forward to that either at the snack restaurant or buffet.
Location: Playa del Carmen, Xcaret, Xplor and they have a great Barcelo Vacation desk to help you book excursions. Carlos was great and helped booked our tour.
We had a really good experience, this was our first stay at this hotel and we really enjoyed it. This was our 3rd time in the Riviera Maya and we really enjoyed this hotel and will difinetly go back. The hotel has many things to do, a lot of water activities (paid activities are: parasailing, scuba diving, wave runners, swiming with dolphins, kayaking, bowling, mini golf, water park) also there are a lot of free activities to do with the family. The beach is great, the side of Maya Beach and Caribe there are no rocks so you can swim freely and the beach area is pretty big, the side of Maya Colonial, Tropical, and the Palace there is a lot of rocky area and small beach but you can use any beach area in the whole compound, there is also a great reef by the pier so you can snorkel There is a lot of fish and coral. This hotel really has it all and is super clean and the staff is great. The food is average some things are good some ok I will give the food a 3.

Great resort for a great value

Posted Jun 4, 2015
Pros: The variety in the resort. They seemed to have a little bit of everything for everyone.
Cons: The drinks and food at the buffet. It is nice that the resort is all inclusive however we got so sick of the alcoholic drinks and food.
Great experience. The resort is massive so we never really got bored there. We stayed for 6 nights, 7 days and found something to do every day. Besides from lounging at the pool and beach which we did the majority of the time, they had so many activities as well. Don't get me wrong, if you wanted you could pay an arm and a leg there for doing activities that they charge to your room, however there are also a ton of free activities that you can do.

MARAVILLOSA ESTANCIA

Posted Jun 1, 2015
Pros: QUE CUIDAN EL MAS MINIMO DETALLE DE ATENCION Y DE SERVICIO PARA LOS HUESPEDES
Cons: ME GUSTARIA UN CARRITO PARA PERSONAS CON ALGUN IMPEDIMENTO PARA DESPLAZARSE DESDE LA ENTRADA DEL HOTEL HASTA SU HABITACION
Location: LA RIVIERA ES VASTA EN ENTRETENIMIENTO Y EN LUGARES HERMOSOS POR CONOCER, EL HOTEL TIENE UNA LOCALIZACION GEOGRAFICA PERFECTA . CERCA DE TODO
ES UN GRAN COMPLEJO TURISTICO, QUE IMPRESIONA CON SUS HERMOSAS INSTALACIONES, PRECIOSO CENTRO COMERCIAL, SU BOLICHE Y SUS ALBERCAS, SIEMPRE IMPECABLES... ME GUSTO PORQUE HAY DIVERSION PARA TODAS LAS EDADES........... PERO LO QUE MAS AGRADABLE ES QUE TODO SU PERSONAL ATIENDE AMABLE Y CON UNA SONRISA, DESDE EL DE MANTENIMIENTOS HASTA EL DE RECEPCION, VOLVERIA SIEMPRE QUE TUVIERA OPORTUNIDAD . HERMOSAS VACACIONES

Pros: Staff, restaurants, beautiful sites strolling through the different hotels.
Cons: The beach chairs are to stiff, won't lay flat. The over abundance of seaweed on the beach was very annoying and not an attractive site!
Just arrived home after 9 days at the Barcelo. Beautiful place, very well maintained, except the beach. I was very annoyed at the 3 feet wide of seaweed you had to walk through to get to the ocean every day , no matter where you were along the beach. Our room was clean when we arrived, maid service maid bed everyday and emptyed garbage, that was it! Restaurants are very nice, no problem ever finding something to eat. Staff very friendly. I did not realize this was a "family oriented resort". Everything revolved around children/teens , from daytime to nightlife. No nightlife for adults, unless you want to bowl, disco with pre teens or shop in VERY expensive stores. No beach music, very disappointing!! There is pool games everyday, all day long , which means you listen to a Spanish speaking staff screaming in a microphone all day, 11am to 5 pm daily. Found no point of joining in when I don't speak Spanish and had no idea what they were saying! This was my 5th trip to Mexico, but was the 1st time all pool side or beach activities/music was all in Spanish. Was extremely disappointed with that, but did not let it ruin my vacation. Had a great time with my husband for our 10 yr. anniversary.

Expedia and Hotel Review

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: Food and environment
Cons: Front desk staff, Room service, Shuttle from and to airport, Entertainment
Expedia told us that the shuttle is included. Hotel declined and we paid $360 since we didn't have any other choice. Room was too small for 4 people and beds were double instead of queen size. Room towels and supplies were for 2 people while we were 4. Room Hood was not working and hotel associate did not take any action within our stay. We reserved 4 rooms, 4 months ahead of time, but rooms were in different zones Food and environment was good. We tried to forget all the deficiencies and enjoy our time since we found out that front desk staff do not take any action.

Superou todas as expectativas

Posted May 13, 2015 on Hotels
O hotel é excelente, superou nossas expectativas! Pessoal muito atencioso, todas as instalações do hotel são maravilhosas! A praia do Beach e do Caribe é perfeita, calma e clara.
