Hard time to get restaurant reservations

Pros: EVERYTHING THERES NO NEED TO LEAVE. THE MAYA HAD THE BEST BEACH.
Cons: MAYBE SOME OF THE FOOD; BUT THEY HONESTLY SERVE EVERYTHING.

i'VE BEEN TRAVELING AROUND AND HAVE ALWAYS USE BARCELO. i'VE BEEN TO COSTA RICA; THEY HAVE A COUPLE OF BARCELO'S BUT i'VE ONLY USE THE ONE IN PUNTARENAS AND GUANACASTE BOTH GREAT. BARCELO RIVIERA MAYA WAS GREAT; THE PARTY ONE THOUGH WAS THE CARIBE; WE ENJOY ALL OF THEM,. FOOD NOT BAD; ALTHOUGH THE SPANIARD RESTAURANT WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FOR FOOD. BUT NO COMPLAINS OTHERWISE; ALREADY LOOKING TO BOOK MY NEXT TRIP TO ANOTHER BARCELO. ENTERTAINMENT WAS OK; SOME NIGHTS BETTER THAN OTHERS. DANCERS ENTERTAIN GUESTS AROUND THE POOL ALL DAY.

Beautiful resort!

Great resort, friendly stuff, really clean resort.. would go again anytime.. only thing that was not cool is that they had one employee in guest information office where you have to buy internet, make reservations and everything else so it took almost 2 hours waiting just to buy wi-fi package. Too many guest per one employee in office. But I will forget that because we had amazing time! Thank you!

I love going back to Barcelò, this time decided to stay in Barcelò Beach, no significant difference except this sub division has the best beach! Surely be back soon!

Had trouble checking in at the front desk --after 3 hours finally was taken care of --after that the rest of the vacation was wonderful

Check in was disappointing

Location: No complaints
Took 2.5 hours to check into our hotel room. Had other family members that were supposed to be in the same area but they were moved to the tropical. We tried to get a room close to them but not available. The next day a room came available so we moved. 3am someone came busting into our room. Hotel double booked the room. Room was loud, with doors slamming and furniture movement.

Amazing resort, I won't go anywhere else!

Location: Near by are cenotes, Tulum ruins, Coba ruins, Xel Ha, and Xcaraet, 20 minutes to Playa Del Carmen, 3 hours to Chichen Itza, and other tours.
I have been to Barcelo Maya 8 times and have stayed at each of the resorts except the Palace. Over the years, I have brought 8 different couples with me and they all fell in love with Barcelo and keep coming back. Each of the 5 different resorts (all one resort that you can take advantage of) are fantastic and minimal difference between them. The resort is fantastic so much so that I won't go anywhere else, why would I? The buildings are great architecture, lobbies fantastic, grounds are immaculate and fantastically maintained. The staff is happy, helpful, friendly, hard-working, and genuinely want to make you happy. The food in the buffets has an amazing variety and varies each day. Is everything the best food you'll ever eat, no, but there are so many options that there are numerous excellent dishes available. The sit-down restaurants are excellent as well and the staff there is better than restaurant staff in the US (though the resort staff is working for a fraction of US restaurant staff). The beach is 1 mile + long, mostly of beautiful white sand the water is clear and nice. There are number of free water sports, free snorkel usage for an hour, and paid tour/snorkel/scuba options available. The gym is recently completely redeveloped and is as nice as any gym in the US and the spa was redeveloped and expanded as well. Bottom line, it's an amazing resort and you won't be disappointed!

excellent food, beautiful beach and resort

Pros: food , resort and beach
The food in the specialty restaurant particulary the Marenostrum is superb. I am a seafood lover, and this restaurant serves big lobster, ceviche and seafood coctail. The resort landscape is well maintained. The beach sand is very fine like a powder.
