Decent hotel at best.

Poor customer service. Poor WiFi capabilities and pricing. Very poor tv reception for rainy or low activity evenings. Snorkeling is below average for area. For the price... go to Costa Rica!

All inclusive, more like all frustrations

Booked two rooms, they only checked us into one. Only put our credit card on file for one, so it meant only room service for one. The drinks were watered down and warm and just plain bad. The buffet had long lines in the morning, you you had to get there super early. You also had to get to the pools super early because the prime spots were taken. Nobody ever helped us get situated... and other guests would move your stuff if you left your spot for too long. In the plus side, all of the staff was super sweet. Great people. Friendly and welcoming. Shuttle to other hotels and dinners was slow. Getting wifi password was a 30 minute wait. Our AC and power kept cutting out after a big storm. AC was fixed. Then went out again, but was our fault for leaving patio door open. When booking the "nice" dinner places included, many were sold out, and no reservations available. Nobody could describe or advise as to which restaurant to eat at. So that was unhelpful. We did figure it out. All in all, we wouldn't do it again. It was bland and generic. We got what we paid for. Don't advise it.

This is our second time here. We love it. Plan on a lot of walking though. It's a great way to burn off all your calories though

Nice family hotel

This is a family hotel for relaxation, if you are looking for music at the pool, partying and night life stay at the colonial, beach or tropical. This is a quiet family hotel. You can go to all areas if you stay at the palace but u have to walk a lot or take a,shuttle. Restaurants need reservation and you must dress semi formal, men must wear long pants. Ate at the Rodizzio, Caribe, Mexico Lindo and Italian loved them except Caribe which was just ok. Rooms come with shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, tooth brush, tooth paste, body cream, facial soap, shaving cream, razor and more which I found great. Drinks were good just make sure u tell them to double the alcohol because some are like juice. They have jack daniels, captain morgan, black label, vodka etc pretty good choices. There is a plaza to shop for souvenirs. However I didnt feel like I was in Mexico, the Mexican culture was lost in the hotel. I wanted to hear Mexican music and see more autentic mexican food. Overall it was a good relaxation hotel I would probably stay at Barcelo again but not at the Palace i could of stayed for less at the other hotels in the complex and get the same experience. Staff is very friendly.

This hotel was very nice and extremely well kept and clean. The pools were amazing but could have used a few bigger slides for teenagers. The a la carte restaraunts were all fantastic and the buffets were your typical buffets. It would haven been nice to have a good choice in between a buffet and a reservations only restaraunt. All in all our vacation was very nice and would go back.

5th perfect vacation at barcelo maya palace!!!

Pros: Snorkling, food, staff
Cons: I have been trying for 5 years to answer this question. I honestly cannot think of anything worth mentioning.
Location: Endless opportunities for entertainment. Water activities, beach activities with the entertainment staff, evening shows, and countless adventure trip
Snorkling, excellent food, beautiful facilities, and endless opportunities! It's always so sad to leave!

Standard All Inclusive - Amazing Beach

Pros: The pools are huge and the beach is fantastic.
Cons: There was no Mexican flavour at all. The hotel could have been anywhere.
Location: The location is great between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, so one day trips to local attractions is easy.
It's a great family hotel, standard Barcelo all inclusive similar to others around the world. The whole complex is very big with a total of 4 hotels and entertainment, but what really stands out is the beach. Great for snorkeling, and water activities.

Awful Service, Awful Food, Nice Room

Terrible service even when we upgraded to premium. Nobody knew how to do anything and nobody wanted to help. Anytime you ask for help you are directed and redirected to 10 different people and never helped. The food tasted extremely old, and refried. Not worth the price at all. Also not a place to relax, more family oriented.
