A quiet beach getaway...

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place we could relax together and get away from the world- we found it! I had such a wonderful time even though the first two days of our stay were rainy. The staff truly tries to make your stay as comfortable as possible and they were all so friendly and warm. It was a trip that I'll never forget and I was fully satisfied with every aspect of my stay.

Small resort with plenty of beachfront.

Pros: beach and drinks were great. The staff for activities were fun.
Cons: Need to address the dangerously slippery floors when it rains.
The major problem that we had was because of rain. The floor were so slippery. My daughter fell down the steps. We witness another guest falling outside the pizza place. The other members of our party had near misses for falling. I felt like I was walking on ice. The walks and floors looked beautiful. However, they were very slippery. Why would you paint floors to make them more slippery. Otherwise, our visit was nice. Getting towels for the beach was a challenge too. The beach and the drinks were great.

Loved the beach!

Enjoyed our stay at Catalonia. I'm a beach person who was looking for a great beach when trying to find a hotel in Mexico. I think I found it. The beach here did not disappoint. Very beautiful! Staff was very nice, service was good. Overall a great place to stay. The only complaint I have is, they close the pool and hot tub at 8pm to treat them with the necessary chemicals for cleaning. What hotel does that? I would think an adults only resort would have their pool and hot tub open late for couples to enjoy. Also, the hot tub was cool, which felt great during the day when it was hot, but it would be nice to have it warm at night. Other that that, I think this is a great resort for the value. Oh, one more thing, the bed was so comfortable! And, I read a lot of reviews before my trip that said the time share people where really pushy. Wasn't even a problem with us. Nothing was ever said to us about time shares. The location of the hotel it also great. Not too far from Playa Del Carmen, or Tulum.

Nice resort with a beautiful secluded beach

Resort staff very hospitable. Room service accomadating. Rooms clean and quiet. The balcony has a superior view of the jungle with a variety of wildlife to observe. A wide variety of food choices Italian, Latin/Mexican, Steakhouse, buffet.

Second time there and it was good as the first

Once again the hotel lived up to its rating. The food was great, the service was excellent and the staff was friendly and fun. Will go back again.

Great first experience

This was my first time in Mexico and my first time at an all-inclusive resort. What a great experience! Food was delicious everywhere we ate. The dinner buffet was exceptional with so many options and a lot of healthy choices. We also ate at the Tapas restaurant, the Mexican restaurant and the steakhouse. We were pleased with all of them! Our room was comfortable and big. Staff was welcoming and friendly throughout the trip. Everything we wanted or needed was taken care of easily. The beach was nice and relaxing. There was usually plenty of space and enough chairs for everyone. The atmosphere on the resort was nice and peaceful. It had a rainforest feel with different animals roaming around. Iguanas were just chilling. Overall, great trip!

Nice Getaway

Location: Resort is about 50 minutes away from airport but about 20-30 from Tulum. This is a more secluded area and felt more like real vacation.
This was my first all inclusive trip to Mexico. The resort was just as it looked online but much prettier in person. The resort is smaller compared to the big commercial resorts found more in Cancun but this was perfect for my 4 day stay. The beach and pool were really nice and the staff would help to get you involved in activities, but not push. The walk way from the lobby to the beach is fairly long, but with being surrounded by trees it wasn't too bad. I would definitely go again.

Beautiful, relaxing and comfortable

We just loved it. Comfortable beds, beautiful beach, delicious food and friendly staff were the attributes we were seeking and that's exactly what we got at Catalonia Royal Tulum. We had a great vacation. Can't wait to go back.

Nice resort but needs some improvement

Pros: the staff, the spa, the beach
Cons: communication, language barrier, music, service
This was our first all-inclusive resort and first trip to Mexico. While I was pleased with the overall stay, there are many inconsistencies in service and a lack of communication among the staff and to the guests. They have all these activities but we never knew what was going on unless a staff member approached us. It would have been nice to know that they had things like yoga and beach Zumba happening, but we were not given a schedule or anything. The food was good at the restaurants we tried, but the room service food was TERRIBLE! Do yourself (and your stomach) a favor, and stay away from the late night munchies at this place. Beach was nice and clean and had plenty of lounge chairs. However, THE MUSIC!! AHH! They would start playing music that was good and then turn it off and then back on and then back off. Their sound system needs improvement or the staff needs to learn how to plug in the speakers correctly. They would turn it up really loud, and then someone else would turn it down, and then someone else would turn it off. It was so weird and kind of annoying. Last but not least, instead of maybe giving us a tour of the resort, or a schedule with all the daily activities and parties, they spent a lot of time trying to get us to upgrade to the Prestige package. We did not spend the extra cash and still had a blast. Overall we had a nice time in Mexico, but I would choose another resort next time.

Beautiful hotel with great staff

We had a beautiful honeymoon at Catalonia Royal Tulum! The entertainment staff was so fun. We loved them! Barbara, Armando, Aleli and Rosa were great at getting everybody involved! We loved Gabriel who met us in the lobby upon our arrival and showed us around. He was so helpful and genuine. The hotel is beautiful- the walkways are built throughout the jungle and preserve as much of the jungle as possible. The beach is clean and beautiful- water is crystal clear. The food could be better, but the grounds totally make up for it! So grateful we chose this hotel!
