Can't wait to come back n my next vacations! The bike and kayak tours were cool, the food is great we loved to eat @Marias but the best part is the staff. They are nice and very helpful. Special thanks to Chava, Alex, Rodrigo and Carlos, Don Victor, Sarain, Gustavo, Ricardo, Eyner and Jairo!

One of my favorite hotels...been there 3 times nowPosted Sep 11, 2015
Pros: While the beach has changed, it is still beautiful. You can sit and watch the boats go by and enjoy the drinks all day!
Cons: Wish there was a little more beach.
Location: Playa Del Carmen is so wonderful!
I love this hotel and Playa Del Carmen is an absolute beautiful area to vacation, but the Gran Porto's beach seems to have changed...there is less of it. And their main restaurant was being remodeled while we were there so we were bummed about that.

Amazing Time!Posted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Staff, Food, Location
Cons: Number of Dining Options
Location: Shopping, Coco Bongo, Beach, Fine Dining
We just returned from our anniversary trip over the labor day weekend and the resort was great and the staff is even better. The resort is right on the beach and provides an amazing view. It is true the seaweed is terrible but they have done a good job of removing quite a bit of it so that you can enjoy the water. The only reason I am not giving this Resort 5 out of 5 in all categories is that unfortunately one of the restaurants was closed and we would have liked to have had more options for dining. Now with that being said, the food we did have was amazing! We ate at Maria's several times and each time was better than the last. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and cannot say enough good things about the staff and facilities! We hope to be able to visit again in the future!!!

Beautiful resort with a few negativesPosted Sep 8, 2015
I am going to give an honest opinion of my time spent at Gran Porto because I found the reviews very helpful when I was booking my vacation. The hotel itself is quite beautiful. It has great architecture and one of the best pools I've ever seen. Since there are tons of 100% reviews, I am going to put mostly the negatives I found in hopes it will help other bookers with their decisions. My biggest complaint was the beach, which I realize is not the resort's fault, but still an important aspect to a "beach vacation". The seaweed smelled very bad and the water was dark brown. There was one day we were able to actually go into the water because it was clear, so that was very nice, but watch out for all of the sharp rocks! My next biggest complaint was the food. I am a very picky eater and realize this issue may not affect the majority of readers, but the variety and quality of food was sub par compared to many other foreign resorts ive been to. Also, the restaurants are not enclosed with AC, but more open, so be prepared to be soaked in sweat for most of your meals. Next, the room was not bad. I was only in a standard and it was pretty much what I expected. The bed is incredibly hard to the point that i didn't think I'd be able to sleep in it. The first couple of nights it was actually comfortable (probably because I was so exhausted) but the last two I tossed and turned all night and back was killing me. The AC works great. Be careful of the shower. Ours flooded our entire room.

El hotel bien ubicado, limpio y cómodoPosted Sep 3, 2015
Pros: Su ubicación y distribución,on de instalaciones.

Next to the beachPosted Sep 1, 2015
Good experience, the only problem was not having hot water in the shower.
