Great Experience, snorkel right on the resort!

Pros: The rooms were very nice and very clean. We enjoyed all of our walks through the mangroves and watching some of the wildlife. Food was great.
Cons: My only complaint was the over selling of the spa but workers were very polite when you turned them down quickly.
Location: We did the segway tour and a lot of snorkeling off the beach (ON THE RESORT!). There was so much to see and do in the resort we never left!
We first checked in and were told they only had 2 double beds instead of a king for our first night. The next day someone came to get our luggage and stowed it in a locked air conditioned room until our new room was ready. Hotel staff and service were amazing and more than accommodating. The food here was AMAZING! The Japanese restaurant was our favorite followed by the Thai for a very close second. We've never had good food at a resort before so this was a very pleasant surprise.

Family vacation

Loved it! Good beach, perfect evening and night program. Food is the same every day at the buffet but many restaurants with a different food options.

Excellent for family vacation

Love the beach, very comfortable rooms. Kids loved the kids club and were very happy to participate in all kids club programs, kids cloud location just perfect ! Very impressed by shows at the resort - professional, colorful, enjoyable to wach for kids and adults.

Nice facility with a few flaws

Pros: Lots of dining options...pool and beach were great. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The refrigerator in our room never worked right. They replaced and the second one didn't work either...leaving no cold drinks in our room for the entire stay. Disappointed you could not get bottled water at the bars available. Wanted to drink SOL beer but that is exclusive to "The Royal Suites" guest only. The beach was awesome in most locations, however it was a distance to walk to the beach. Restaurant serving sizes were a bit small. This was our first "all-inclusive" trip...not sure if we would go that route again or not.

Great resort, lots to see & do

We originally booked to colonial but moved to riviera section. There are lots of choices for meals, we tried couple of the buffets, portofino, ribs & more & the snack bar on the beach. Damien was our server at Portofino and did a great job. Would also like to thank Erika Alonso for helping with our shuttle transportation from the airport. After talking to 3 dif people from Expedia, and still no shuttle I contacted hotel directly and she took care of everything for us.

Lots of trails and places to walk to/from. Great food, friendly staff, awesome beach. Very green, acres of rainforest and natural habitat.

Beautiful setting, great pools, beach and staff

Pros: Constantly putting money back in to the resort with upgrades to the facilities.
Cons: Make time stand still while I am there, LOL!
Location: Just over one hour direct drive from the airport. One half hour from Playa del Carmen as well as Tulum. Only 6 miles south of Puerto Aventuras.
Group of 10 of us went for one week, Nov/Dec. Return visit for some, 14th time for two of us. Yes, this is a large resort, but easy to get around. The vastness makes it never feel crowded. Each of our last few visits they have been renovating a segment of this 14 year old resort, always having the guest in mind. The newer Tapas restaurant, La Lola, is very good as is the brand new Thai restaurant. Plenty of great new loungers around the main pool thus adding more of the older ones to the beach. While not a "Zen" resort, the GP is not for "Yahoos" either. This is not a Spring Break destination.

Nice beach resort with good food.

Pros: It was clean.
Location: We did not go outside the resort.
We had a lot of fun. positives =============== -Friendly staff -nice evening entertainment -free room service, the room's fridge is free inc the alcohol -8 different restaurants/buffets to choose from (servers were great) -free red wine at every meal -The quality of the food is good. I wish I could just eat 12 hours a day! -beach is only a 3-5 minute walk -The beach had lots of chairs, etc. -cool little animals running around (lots of different kinds) -the beach water is not so cold and nice to swim in (there are rocks though in places) -free towels -the resort seems to be recycle friendly -room is stocked with bottled water every day -good for kids (kids pool is free) -nice flat panel TV with HBO (or maybe it was Showtime) -free internet (seemed to be good enough) hi-speed is $15/day negatives =============== -it's about an hour and 15 minutes south of the Cancun and the Cancun airport. -pool cost $10/day (beach is free / kids pool is free) -Cancun is to far if you want to travel to it. If I go again I would... ================ -I wish we booked a direct flight. Going through Mexico City was to long of travel. -I would recommend to bring water shoes to go on the beach. The beach is sandy and nice but there are spots with rocks. I heard some other say they did not like the rocks on their feet but I personally did not mind them at all with my water shoes. Overall if you are looking to just relax and not go anywhere this is a good resort.
