The hotel is nice but a long walk to the main lobby and food. The food is bland and not good at all

Great resort, but food/drinks could be betterPosted Nov 28, 2015
Pros: Beach, activities, live theatre/music, clean rooms and friendly staff
Cons: 1) the food and drinks (watered down), 2) there are a lot of smokers everywhere and 3) there are not enough shaded spaces around the pool
Location: Playa del Carmen downtown, Chichen Itza, Grand Cenote, Tulum, Coba, Cancun, etc.
My family (with 2 kids - 10 and 8 years) spent 6 nights at the Family Club. Overall we had a great time. The beach was awesome. The resort had a lot of activities throughout the day like soccer training, tennis training, etc. We also enjoyed the nightly live shows at the theatre and the live music at the courtyard. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. The only 3 things that bothered us were 1) the food and drinks (watered down) could be better, 2) there are a lot of smokers everywhere and 3) there are not enough shaded spaces around the pool if you go there around mid-day.

Excellent resort, wonderful stayPosted Nov 26, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, great service, happy people
Cons: Separate the Royal Holiday crew from the rest of the staff as these people are not really part of the resort and ruin people's time
Location: Tulum, Akumel and Coba were amazing to visit and learn about so much culture and history. We fell in love!
Upon arrival, we received welcome champagne and news of a free upgrade to Platinum, which came with amazing perks! The all inclusive drinks were worth it and great! The food was exceptional, buffet and restaurants as well. The restaurants could have added an extra option or two per course. STAY AWAY FROM THE CHILL OUT. Not worth the extra cost at all. Worst food and service the entire visit. Definitely visit the beach BBQ... killer guacamole and massive burgers. Don't turn your back to the coates or they'll grab it from you! The staff goes above and beyond to help you in every way, but watch out for the Royal Holiday time share scam! We were looking for BD Travel to book excursions, and a staff member of Royal Holiday tricked us into sitting down with his staff to "book excursions". After asking for $19,000 to join that day (after we told them repeatedly we don't have a lot of money to spend on vacations and we just bought our first house) we lost 3 hours of our day. Not cool. Otherwise, friendly and helpful staff. We highly recommend Tulum and Coba excursions. Ask for Alex for the Mayan Adventure / Coba, and ask for Fernando if you are going to Tulum/Akumel. We're coming back to Mexico for sure as this was an unforgettable experience!

Nice private resortPosted Nov 25, 2015
Pros: Something for everyone
Cons: Possibly more shuttles to beach if anything.
Location: Lots of things to do, Town of Playa Del Carmen is about 10 minuets away by cab, Airport is aprox. 45 minuets away
Beautiful Hotel, very large though. no need to leave this resort except for excursions.

Nice hotel, slow service and no wifiPosted Nov 23, 2015
The hotel is really well kept and decent. However compared to all the other all inclusive resorts I've stayed at, this was the worst. The service in all the restaurants are super slow. Even though it's not busy, it took about 45 minute for each course to be served. Even after taking so long, the food is served cold. Majority of the food is what's served in the buffet but presented differently. Also the buffet served the same food every single day during our 6 day stay, a change would've been nice. The major upset was there wasn't free wifi. Wifi was available at a really high cost. The cost $20Usd per day wasn't per room, but per a device also. Also there is different sections of Grand Princess, such as Rivieria, Sunset, Platnium, and family club. You get to enjoy the big resort however once you are out of the area you are unable to enjoy the other snack bars pertain to those resorts. So really, you don't get all the benefits of the big resort. For example, we tried to enjoy the ice cream shop but it was only available to family club. Overall, the resort was to par compared to other resorts.

Waste of money and timePosted Nov 22, 2015
Well first I like to start of with the night we got here, our flight was delayed and we ended up having to check in at 2am the only snack bar open was in the sport bar with loud music and drunk people. Now when you have a child that's not where you want to go and eat after a long day of traveling. Secondly we arrived to the room and the jacuzzi was filled with mildew (yes mildew) a big orange ring around the jacuzzi. No one was helpful with accommodating us for the bad experience we were having there so far. The food by far was very disappointing every where we went. Not what you would expect for a vacation. Kids club was an extra fee to use there kids pool ugh. I just wouldn't recommend any one coming here. By far the worst vacation ever!!

No necesitas nada más!Posted Nov 21, 2015

Resort beautiful but a lot of flawsPosted Nov 20, 2015
We booked this trip for November in early spring. Requested king bed, non smoking but got two double beds and smoking. A/C banged all night, pillows like rocks. Housekeeper was fantastic. Room spotless. Pool nice but needs some cosmetic work. Grounds gorgeous. All a la carte restaurants were terrible. Stay away from Asian. Buffet food would probably of been better if they could of maintained a consistent temperature. All food was cold. Everything seemed like work ie: trying to get salt for the table. Here is my biggest complaint....staff was about 50/50. They were either over the top with hospitality or downright annoyed by your presence. The pool bartenders were the worst. (Especially day pool bartender on Sunset side. He wouldn't even look at you unless you had money in your hand. He went as far as serving the person in line behind you who had money in their hand. Unforgivable. I am a generous tipper on the resorts but I stopped tipping after day four of a ten day trip based on this young man's attitude ). It's unfortunate, but based on this first time experience at this resort, I would not return.
